As the title says, I am still unable to play the MCC, I can get into games usually, but after a little while I will always be disconnected from the match no matter what. The Halo 5 Beta has better connectivity than this. 2 months since the game came out and I have finished < 5 matches can anyone help?

How have you played < 5 matches? I have played plenty with and without a party and so have all of my friends. Yeah, it fails some of the time, but it does work after a couple tries at most. Don’t get me wrong, this game is still broken on so many levels, but I don’t understand people like you who say they aren’t getting in games at all. IMO, you fall into one or more of the following categories:
- You are lying
- You have tried to play <5 times
- You have the worst internet connection of all time and/or haven’t bothered to setup open NAT (or your dad won’t let you touch the router)
- You don’t actually have an xbox one and are trying to play in your 360
- Your xbox live subscription expired and your mom won’t pay to renew it because you have been falling behind in your grades and you need to stop playing so much xbox and do your homework
- I am not lying. Some people have problems that you don’t, don’t be so ignorant of others.
- I have tried to play many more than 5 times.
- My NAT is open and my speeds are great. The connection is fine with every other game but MCC. Even the Halo 5 Beta works properly.
- I do have an Xbox One.
- I have XBL gold and I get A grades while playing Xbox so I can continue to play while you are ignorant to others and their problems and you fall behind on grades.
So if anyone has any way to help me it would be appreciated rather than saying ‘You’re lying’.
In the US (Arizona) here, with an open NAT. Its doing the same thing its always done since the game released for me. BTB works fine during the day no problem with 2-3 minute search times. Then around 3:00am (Arizona time) it stops working, and I get “Searching for more players” no matter how long I let it search, even if I back out and search again. Then around 10:00am it starts working again with the 2-3 minute search times. Its seriously like right on those times for me too… Really weird. All of the other playlists (Team Slayer, Halo 2 Anniversary, etc) work fine during this time though.
I’ve tried hard resetting, quitting the game, unplugging my console, just about any other troubleshooting tip, and still the same problem.
I think its probably doesn’t work around that time is because there aren’t as many people online playing MCC, like other people have suggested on this forum.
That’s a pretty dumb reason though because I’m sure in the entire world there are more than enough people searching for a BTB game in the MCC. Its just the fact that 343/Microsoft created a matchmaking system that can’t put players together when there’s a low player count, and they obviously don’t know how to fix it because its been the same way for 2 freaking months.
People need to stop making excuses for 343/Microsoft like “Oh its the low player count”… Not an excuse. It should work whether there’s 100 people searching or 100,000 and its still not working after 2 months. It doesn’t matter how “hard it is to put 4 differently coded games onto one disc”, it should work properly. They got millions of dollars for making games, they should be able to do it right. 343/Microsoft had one job with the MCC, and that was to release a working game. When they failed at that, their new one job was to fix the MCC, and they’re failing at that.
Sure, they’re releasing updates and it seems like 343 is trying really hard to fix it, but it should have worked in the first place. A lot of people were still kinda on the fence about 343 after Halo 4, but now after this MCC disaster they’ve lost a lot of respect from the community.

Didn’t mean to quote this one, but regardless on your service record it shows you played and completed 23 games. Don’t get me wrong, to me that says you haven’t been able to play the game or chose not to. This game is still broken for me after the update and just gave up on mcc already.
The only way to really play mcc is customs, which get boring. I didn’t notice if you said that your connection issue was with h2a or other games like h3 or if it was across the board.

I played 3 or 4 match made games last night. Every match was found within 1-2 minutes and it didn’t crash once for me. Yes, I do believe you are lying or at least exaggerating. If your NAT is open and your speeds are “great” (by the way it’s latency that’s important not speed, but w/e), then you are either not actually trying to play or you are lying about your experience.
Again, I am not saying there are not problems with this game, there are many and I am still pissed about it, but you saying you can’t play ANY matches is just ridiculous. It does not represent the actual status of the game, and I refuse to believe that the game is specifically picking on you, not allowing you to play.

While I am able to get into matches after long wait times, most of them either instantly end or end within the first five minutes. Search times are also around five to ten minutes a game. NAT is open as well and don’t have issues with other games and connectivity. Don’t know why you bumped this thread two times though…

I wouldn’t say outright that he is lying, but i would certainly argue that there are some variables that he hasn’t explored that could make the experience better.
-Dont just trust that your NAT is open, use a static IP and port forwarding to do it. You can google how to do that. UPnP tables can get screwed up without you knowing it. Usually UPnP is fine if you are only ever connecting on one Xbox in one location and your router is decent, but don’t bet on it.
-Delete your local save game data for the game. Highlight MCC, tap the Menu button on your controller, select manage, move the selection to the right and choose to delete ONLY your local-save game information. Next time you start the game it will take a few minutes to sync that data back up with the cloud save.
-Fully restart your xbox. you have to turn off the “Instant-on” mode in the power settings, then turn off and turn back on the xbox. IF you dont put it on low-power mode, it wont actually clear out the memory when you shut it off (basically).
-Get your own router. If you have a router or “wireless gateway” thing that your ISP provided you, ditch it. They are usually crap. Just get a basic modem from them and then buy your own router. Check out newegg and look for a well-reviewed router. you don’t need to break the bank to get one that will work and has port forwarding features. most of them do.
-Use a WIRED connection. Even if your wireless connection is “good” it cant hold a candle to a wired connection. The latency and bandwidth will be faster and more even. If you run a speedtest over a wired then a wireless connection you will see that the wired one isnt just faster, it also has less spikes in the latency. Those spikes can cause issues and are often the culprit if you are playing a wireless game that goes from laggy to not laggy to laggy and back and forth like that.
-Remember that Upload speed is more important than download speed when it comes to gaming. you might think you have good internet because they always advertise the download speed. its more impressive sounding and cheaper for them to provide than guaranteed upload speed. For example, my cable internet is advertised as being a 60Mb connection. Thats very good for my area when you look at it that way, but the upload is only 4Mb! Its still enough, but you get the example. A friend of mine has a 45Mb down with 10Mb up, so his is better for gaming.

Im having the same problem as Volcanic, and the people saying he is lying are just lucky theirs works. MCC is working for most but not all. Gaurdians was working great almost no problems but MCC is junk, and this is coming from someone who has played Halo since CE came out. I have never had problems gettting a game on Halo 4 one the 360.

True!! tried to have a halo tourney saturday night… everything was going well then live just -Yoinking!- went down. Could see friends to join games, party chat died. -Yoinking!- microsoft.
