Is the Halo channel servers still up?I get an error message every time I try to get on it on my Xbox one.Does anybody know the answer?
Don’t know why but I’ve also experienced issues with the mobile app. I don’t think it’s worked the entire time I’ve had it downloaded.
I think it’s dead. I hope they either overhaul it and bring it back, or untether all the unique content from it somehow and let it die officially. It’s actually a decent idea - they launched it back in 2014, when they thought the Halo TV show was imminent. Halo TV show was discussed at E3 2014. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn was released in 2012. Halo: Nightfall would be coming out just later that year. And The Fall of Reach animated series in 2015. Between those features, plus the MCC Terminals, and probably Halo Legends from back in 2009, it seems like 343 was hedging their bets a lot heavier on having actual Halo TV/movie programming by the end of the decade. It seems like Halo Channel was intended as a sort of streaming service for solely Halo.
But yeah, instead it just became the proprietary “I need to watch these MCC Terminals” app, as well as the place where they dumped their ViDocs and game trailers, plus some community content. All stuff that can already be found more conveniently on YouTube. I’m not surprised it died. Halo’s TV programming just never even launched. By now, it’s too little, too late. And the app just looks and feels dated. Hell, even back then, I remember being disappointed that we were trading the Halo Waypoint app on the 360 for the Halo Channel. Waypoint was cool - it had all our legacy stats available for the first (and only) time on console, it had most of the trailers and ViDocs and stuff we saw on Halo Channel in the Xbox One era, and it even had cool -Yoink- easter eggs and game unlocks baked into the app, like that code using Covenant characters from the CEA Terminals back in 2011. That was just a much better-executed app, and I still don’t get why they didn’t just upgrade that for the One.

the halo channel app will become the halowaypoint app. We were able to beta test is during the last Halo tech preview. It updated the channel app into the waypoint. So likely when it goes live, you’ll all receive the update.
as far as the console version, I don’t see that is has a place in the upcoming generation, but I could be wrong.
I enjoyed the Halo channel when it was active, but it’s down for the count.
I agree with you plush I loved it on the 360 it had everything you could want.I liked the avatar item rewards as well. You could also compare stats with your friends.I never unlocked the stuff from Halo Nightfall sadly.I wish I could get the Halo channel working just for the in game items from that. It’s cool seeing what everyone here had to say.
Ive also encountered problems a few weeks back with the Halo Channel phone app, but 343 did confirm a new mobile app (probably a complete update/revamp of the Halo Channel app) soon, probably it’ll come out when Infinite launches
I’ve heard it still works if you try it enough. But as far as I’m concerned it’s a dead app. New one should come out later this year.
I’ll keep trying.I just want to get the HMCC in game stuff from the channel for watching Night fall.
Tbh Im surprised they hadn’t updated it sooner. Im glad they finally did though

I’m pretty sure the emblem unlocks for watching Nightfall were just given out to everyone, at least I have them unlocked for some reason even though I never watched it. I’m not sure about Halo 5’s armor unlock for it
I believe the app is dead. The new HaloWaypoint app is being worked on. There was a bit of Beta testing of the app during the last Infinite Tech Flight.
