I think I am finally starting to prefer the sticky. I love the little radar screen on it and all the cool strategies you can use with it.
I made a post like this awhile back, the grenade launcher is definitely better for Halo, but it’s not OP enough to belong in H4.
The launcher counts how many people are on your grenade, and the distance from the closest target.
The launcher is difficult to use, but direct hits at mid range can create instant explosion kills. Not to mention the ability to bounce the grenades off walls and use them as land mines.
The detonator is basically an OP easy to use launcher, kinda like the OP easy to use DMR. Everything was streamlined for power and useability in this game. And that’s why I prefer Reach’s weapon set. I REALLY miss the plasma launcher… so many unique guns, now replaced with forerunner clone weapons. That’s just lame.
I actually still like the Pro-Pipe a little more.
Always preferred the sticky to the grenade launcher. Brute Shot still trumps both.
Pro Pipe is alot more fun to use in my opinion. I don’t really like the sticky detonator, for ordinace drops, it comes up to much me.
So, a weapon, that can kill you from virtually anywhere, can bounce off walls, and kill several people that are a distance from it, is underpowered compared to the Sticky Detonator?
A weapon mind you that people can hear beeping from a mile away, that takes basically being on top of to kill you due to having a weak area of effect, and can simply stick to surfaces similar to a Plasma Grenade and does not work nearly as efficiently as the Grenade Launcher which can bounce off surfaces and around corners for easy kills?
Yeah… let me tell you the Sticky Detonator is just so Overpowered.
The Sticky Detonator is the funner weapon, and not nearly as powerful as the Grenade Launcher. Your debate should be between the Railgun and Grenade Launcher either way, because it is the Railgun that stands in for the Grenade Launcher, not the Sticky Detonator.
Grenade launcher
For me, the sticky detonator is either inconsistent or I’m not using it right. Sometimes it will kill people when it’s near them and other times it will just take their shields down. I can’t figure out what the right distance is to kill someone.
Pro pipe for sure. Getting a kill with it felt satisfying. Getting a kill with a sticky det… if you aren’t getting kills with it you’re doing it wrong.
The launcher was more skill based and it could EMP vehicles, creating another route other than the PP in Reach.

ANNNNTTT!!!
Wrong answer, with the detonator, all you have to do is shoot it at there feet and boom, with the launcher you HAD to bounce it or go EMP mode which became null and void unless it was a direct hit. Plus, someone can here the detonator, but not see it, traps are so much easier now.
I loved the “Pro Pipe” but the Sticky Det. has grown on me and actually really enjoy using it. That being said I hope in Halo 5 we have both because they are very different from each other.
the sticky is much easier to use. which is why i love it.

I could do the same with the launcher, and adding to it’s overpoweredness is the fact that it can emp vehicles. It’s blast range is larger than the stickies and once you learn to use it it is way to easy to kill with.
I feel more satisfied killing with the sticky.
Grenade Launcher.
I have so much trouble using the stick det. When I use it, it feels like a peashooter half the time. And yet, when its being used against me, everyone has friggin’ perfect aim and the blast radius is stupidly gigantic.
At least the launcher could emp stuff if it missed, and could be fired over longer distances and around corners thanks to the bounce. When you got a kill with it, it felt like you earned it.
Although I love the Sticky Det, it’s gotta be the GL for me. That weapon possibly had the widest skill gap of any Halo weapon and was an absolute blast to get kills with. The crazy bankshot, cross-map, landmine and timed midair kill potential of this weapon makes it my all time Halo weapon. It’s EMP ability is just icing on the cake. It’s one of the few things I miss from Reach. Most of my Theater clips from Reach were GL skill-kills haha. Here’s hoping for a return in Halo 5!
I like both about the same actually. Like most weapons, they’re situational. Pro-pipe was awesome for things like dislodging Gold Lift campers on Sword Base, and was always uber satisfying when you scored a direct hit on someone. Sticky Det is way better at laying traps, because you don’t have to hold down the trigger, and can switch to another weapon while you wait for someone to spring your trap. Also, it’s great fun to stick a ghost, then blow it up when you get hijacked.

What is this N00b toUber?
I have a lot more fun with the sticky detonator. one time I stuck it to an afk team mate and waited for a guy to assassinate him where I then got a showstopper.
I would like to have both. The Grenade Launcher made Arcade Fight bearable and it was really fun to ground bounce rounds above the Elite’s head and smak… down it went. I like both guns, but I with the removal of the Pro-pipe I can’t help but want it back.
