Which would you prefer for H5, the sticky detonator or the grenade launcher?
I personally prefer the grenade launcher, since I find it more useful, more skillful to use, the design looks completely awesome, and it is one of my favorite Halo weapons.
Which do you like and why?

Like Creep Clown said above me, why not both? But if I was held at gunpoint and told to pick only one, it would be the Grenade Launcher.
I really liked the Grenade Launcher, but the Sticky Detonator was nearly useless.

Because we already have some power weapons that barely get any love in MM (Can’t think of a single map that has the Incineration Canon in Team Slayer) we don’t need an abundance of weapons that barely fit anywhere.
Aside from that the Sticky Detonator was extremely useless, it was like a pathetic rocket launcher, it always took a time to detonate (couldn’t even detonate in mid air) and the giant beeping noise really gave it away (not to mention its blast radius was a mere puff, any skilled player could avoid getting killed at full shield unless it stuck to them).
The Grenade launcher was great, it was really a nice way to catch a camper by surprise, great against vehicles thanks to its EMP, using it took more skill (either bouncing it off right or bouncing it to be used as a trapping weapon at a specific point) and it served a greater use in custom games thanks to its EMP.
Overall I rather see the GL return, it took way more skill and was way more usefull. The sticky detonator wasn’t worth a dime.
Sticky Detonator. The Grenade Launcher feels redundant when there’s already Frag Grenades.
I feel the Sticky Detonator could be good, it was just so underpowered in Halo 4.

The only similarity between the two is in name only.
Sticky det was not a good weapon. Primary use was camping. Using it in other ways if there was any kind of lag was damn near impossible (since it needs host confirmation to fire).
If I were to choose, I’d have to say the grenade launcher (If it’s the Halo: Reach GL, at least). I never really liked the sticky detonator that much, it seemed good for shenanigans, but I never really found it that useful in combat.
Neither, I want the Brute Shot.

Let the Meta return.

They are both fragmental grenades. They both bounce off of surfaces. They both require you to time the explosions. Gameplay-wise the grenade launchers functions just like a beefed up frag grenade (barely anyone uses that alternate fire so it doesn’t really count to be honest). The Sticky Detonator works like the alternate fire of the grenade launcher and sticks to surfaces, plus it doesn’t perform similarly to a frag grenade so it feels less redundant in the sandbox.
The sandbox is way better with less redundancy and more variety. The game shouldn’t have two things that function exactly the same. If it just had the Grenade Launcher instead of the frag grenades, I wouldn’t mind it as much except for the fact that Halo is all about the golden triangle of “Weapons-Melee-Grenades”, so not having a different button for frag grenades would really bother me.

I would prefer it if they just buffed the concussion rifle. It would make it just a little more unique because of the arc. The Brute Shot kind of feels like a mini-rocket launcher. They should also make concussion jumping a more effective strategy by giving you just a little more of a greater distance. Concussion-jumping is when you fire at your feet with the weapon in the midst of a jump, to boost you farther and/or higher.
I’d love for the Grenade Launcher to return. The Pro Pipe was so much fun to use.
Sticky detonator is wholly inferior to the Pro Pipe!
The Grenade Launcher represented everything a Halo weapon should be.
-
Unique firing mechanism that takes took skill to land shots accurately
-
Mostly deadly against infantry, but limited to a 1-round magazine
-
Not necessarily deadly against vehicles, but definitely a formidable weapon for stopping a vehicle and ultimately destroying it
Bonus - the Pro Pipe made riding shotgun in RHR so much fun
Hey, no love for the plasma launcher? I want all three!

The Sticky detonator performs very similarly to Plasma grenades in many respects. It too can be argued is redundant. Offensively you basically use the same tactics as a rocket launcher to get kills, aiming for the ground or the player. It can be used to set traps, that’s basically the only thing that is interesting about it.
I think the Pro pipes mid air detonations and emp effect give it more worth in the sandbox. It gives the weapon more tactical uses. It has more depth. I wouldn’t say no to a double tap trigger like the Sticky det for the Pro pipe 2.0 through.
I said both…variety is the spice of life! But i would def prefer the sticky detonator that thing is so fun!

Very satisfying watching a trail of blueberries tag your opponent from a distant, hoping they wouldn’t notice lol.

Lol laughed out loud.
Both. Yes. Why not? Seems it would work well enough.
