Please 343i can we just have a confirmation that Steve Downes is still voicing the chief? Its a fundamental part of John’s character in my eyes. (If i have a missed a confirmation please notify me as I really want an answer…)
**EDIT:**After scouring the web tonight I have found that Steve does in fact have an official facebook page he himself runs, and on this page he recently posted an link to an article about Halo 4s release date being exposed. I highly doubt that they would change the voice actor for John, especially since they kept Jen Taylor for Cortana. I guess we’ll find out soon enough though, right?

Did they really change Miranda’s voice actor in Halo 3? I thought it was the same person? She sounds the same as she did in Halo 2.

It was one of the most drastic changes in a halo game.
Miranda sounded abysmal in halo 2. One of the worst voice acting seen in gaming for the past 10 years.
In halo 3, the change was acceptible. Go play halo 2, then 3, and tell me the change was nothing other than massive.

Yeah, the original was Julie Benz, not sure who the new one was. I noticed the change because I knew the actress, so it felt awkward to me when she had a new voice.
Jeez! How could I forget the far more important and dreadful change of voice actor for Truth! I was incredibly disappointed that they changed him, he was fantastic as Truth.
The portion of the level Gravemind in Halo 2, when Truth is talking over the comm system, reassurring the Covenant essentially solidified my nerdy love of Halo; that moment sticks in my mind almost more than any other for some reason.
Such major disappointment in Halo 3 with those voice actor changes. Steve Downes not being in Halo 4 would kill me.
Although as you said, I doubt they would change his voice. Probably just waiting for a promotional campaign to be the first time we hear his voice, or a Vidoc.

Yeah, they did change her actor, listen again there is a big difference, especially in some of her lines.

Agreed, it’s been confirmed that Jen’s returning for Cortana and Jeff is the announcer again. If Steve was able determined to have a few lines in Firefight, I’m sure as hell he’ll want to return as the character he gave the voice to for 3 games.

i didnt notice any drastic changes to miranda’s voice either
I’m finding it kind-of weird no one knows if Steve Downes is returing…except for 343 of course, but we know Jen taylor and Jeff steitzer are going to be back for their roles. I just hope there not holding back because they changed John 117’s voice actor that would be the biggest mistake for 343 yet. Although im sure hes returning so i’m not discouraged yet.

Not Steve, Bieber. Much more manly. What’s more, that stuff about Neil Davidge was just a smokescreen, the actual OST will consist of nothing but Bieber’-Yoink!- single Baby being played throughout the campaign, multiplayer, forge, and real life - when you turn the game off, your Xbox will grow legs and follow you around blasting it at top volume.
To be honest, I’m surprised there aren’t more topics about it, but I suppose the reveal that the Ancient Evil is Colonel Gadaffi did steal the limelight.
They have confirmed Jen Taylor and Jeff Steitzer so i dont see why they wont just confirm Downes aswell, unless theyre holding of until one big announcement and if so I dont mind that they keep it secret until then.
If Steve Downew isn’t voicing John-117, then I don’t think I could play the campaign. He must be the Master Chief.
343i hasn’t officially “announced” that Steve Downes will be returning as Master Chief, however it’s ben confirmed by his Wiki and IMDB page that he will be returning.
I don’t get it, lol… I made almost this same post yesterday, and I got flamed and told that I was stupid for making it. Waypointers must have something against me. BTW, I thanked this thread, because I support the main question as to why it hasn’t been confirmed.
Downes was in the teaser, I’m sure he’ll be in the game.
