Update did some weird things when trying to update from Linux, so just reinstalling and see if something changed on EAC
Yep seems more broken. For me I start the game and then EAC logo turns up then the game quits. Tried without EAC and it just crashâs. Itâs now unplayable for me on the Steam Deck.
What the hell is going on⌠Really this is becoming very irritating⌠343, just do something damn it!!!
Yeh this is pretty bad. Itâs like 343i have just blocked access to MCC entirely to paying customers. This is just annoying.
EAC splash comes up for me, loads and runs the game. All that happens is the EAC error and the game runs fine.
Lucky for you. Mine just had a minor 100mb roughly update after last nights update and still loads up EAC and then shuts down game. With/without EAC itâs completely unplayable for me.
in the MCC base depot they updated the easy anticheat binaries, they also include the proton easyanticheat runtime in the steam dependencies (will download when you install)

any update on this? Iâm not buying MCC on SD until I know itâs working lol
easyanticheat-x64.so has been in the game files since 11th April (itâs the reason why it was stuck on a bootloop until a Proton Experimental update)
Currently does not work. Used to work when EAC was disabled but with this recent update itâs completely broken.
If you launch it in desktop mode you will see that it does actually get past the initial EAC window, then immediately when the game launches it crashes.
Checking the gamelauncher.log file you will see that EAC successfully loads (which it didnât before the update)
The game crashing is probably just the update itself breaking Proton slightly, a new Proton update should fix that problem.
No clue. If Proton is updated and somehow fixâs it someday then cool but if 343i doesnât fix it either itâll sadly continue to be wasting space on my Steam DeckâŚwhich is a shame since wanted native game-play on there.
Valve does a lot of heavy lifting, think Elden Ring and shader caching. I wouldnât be surprised if they did a little more to get this the rest of the way. All Hail Lord Gaben.
I wonder how you could make EAC work on Linux without at least a little additional work being done from the developperâs side like it is todayâŚ
According to gamingonlinux, thereâs work being done, hopefully 343i can finish this, they still didnât give any explanation as to why it takes them so longâŚ

They didnât give an explanation since it was a straightforward answer.
they were in talks with Microsoft for Linux support since the PC launch, and Microsoft being a direct competitor to Linux took the aggressive stance against Linux support. Recently they must have finally convinced Microsoft that the earnings are more important than the exclusivity, especially since Microsoft has most of the PC space effectively cornered now.
No they didnâtâŚ
Microsoft themselves posted this on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/3090835/view/3112553992726030833
Plus the file needed for Linux support has been in the game since April.
Plus, plus, Infinite became fully playable in May.
Except that only supports exactly what I was saying, as all unsupported titles are the ones they would logically hold to exclusivity rules, each one being a system seller.
Even ignoring that, the requests for Linux support would have begun sometime in Spring 2021 at the point of all titles being fully released, not Spring 2022 when this particular post was made. Putting the files there at that time was only a move being made behind the scenes in anticipation of a positive outcome to those long fought requests.
I will concede that if Linux support was added to Infinite in May, that they very likely also greenlit MCC alongside it. However, this only changes what the answer is to something equally as straightforward: that being the verification process for each game contained within the collections compatibility will take more time than if it was a single title. Still not good as it shows a lack of transparency, but very likely something being done in preparation if it turns out like infinites splitscreen co-op.
Just got my Steam Deck yesterday and did some testing on some games within the collection, cannot believe how well the collection in general runs on the steam deck! Even the anniversary graphics for CEA and 2A campaigns runs basically flawlessly on max graphics (or high). 343 NEEDS to get the matchmaking part of the collection working over Steam Deck over EAC. I imagine they probably are worried about the Security side of the letting a collection like this run online in matchmaking on linux, that is just a total guess. But these games are old now, so I really do not think 343 really has much to worry about here. For Infinite to get support (which doesnât run very well on the Steam Deck due to being very demanding graphically for the device, cannot play above low at around 30-50 FPS) but not MCC now is pretty baffling.
