Personally, I’m a big fan of games that require you to use your head to clear the objective without being detected by the enemy. Someone in the 343 discord mentioned this, but I wanted to make a post about it to see what anyone on the forums thinks: how would you feel about stealth mechanics being introduced into Halo Infinite? We had small tastes of it in ODST, but I’d argue Reach’s Nightfall mission offered the closest thing to a stealth experience. In my opinion, I think it would be really cool to see. Maybe the player can utilize active camo and suppressed weapons to clear a mission/objective.
Halo has always had some stealth mechanics, but the thing about Halo is that it never forced you to use them. Yes, certain levels in CE and Reach really benefited from using stealth, but you didn’t have to. You could go in guns blazing and still accomplish the goal if you wanted. I wouldn’t like to see Infinite introduce mechanics that it forces us to use for 1 or 2 levels, and I wouldn’t want new mechanics to be introduced that are too niche to be useful in the entire game. I think the old ways of finding some active camo, crouch-walking around and assassinating are just fine for stealth in Halo. If they want to bring the silenced SMG and pistol back into the sandbox, too, then I’m ok with that. I don’t want to see going prone or active camo armor ability or interact with a bush to hide.
I think it would be cool to have 1 mission or a part of it dedicated to complete stealth. Similair to COD Modern Warfare sniper mission in the gillie suit.

Why not add those stealth mechanics though? It’s like you said, the player can still storm in guns blazing. Why not have more options for the players that would rather conplete the mission with stealth? I think it would be awesome if you could jump out of nowhere, attack some covenant, then crouch down in a bush, behind cover, or in dark shadows and lose your location and have to search for you… and if they are unsuccessful then give up, allowing you to jump out and surprise them once again. And like you said, the player can ignore these stealth mechanics and attack the enemy face on.
*important side note: This would only affect campaign since human players can obviously see someone hiding in a bush or in a dimly lit corridor haha.
I’d be cool with them adding more stealth oriented mechanics but not to design the game based around stealth. I’d like it if they made a full fledged stealth spin off though.

Agreed this, or a spin-off. There are so many opportunities for Halo spin offs. I still really want a Halo Party game with mini games like Fuzion Frenzy.
I have a great concept—it’s a sniper mission set at night where you have to utilize cover and range to silently take out the Covenant. Also, if you suck at stealth, Jen Taylor delivers a condescending line about how you’re bad at the game and then the mission continues normally. Oh yeah, and there’s a big ship or something with invisible enemies.
There are other franchises for this type of gameplay. Lets not make halo into something it isn’t.

To be honest, I had no clue you could successfully stealth that part of the mission. I always thought that once you shot your sniper, it was “game over, you’re compromised” because, you know, that thing is pretty loud. Okay, yes, it exists in a CE mission. I suppose I’d like to see 343 just take that further.

I’m not advocating for Halo: Metal Gear Solid, I’m simply asking for others’ thoughts on the matter. Personally, I feel that there’s opportunity for a refreshing gameplay experiences if stealth was taken more seriously in the recent Halo games.
In ODST the enemys would spot you even if you were 10 miles away from them, if Infinite has stealth missions then they need to make the AI not 30 invisible eyeballs located on every part of their body including their -Yoink!-.
