343 please take this out. You add a bad -Yoink- assassination and it’s completely useless if the enemy team can steal the kill after you already assassinate him. It’s a completely incompetent system that is currently in place with the warden. Please fix. I’m tired of not getting the kill when I should. Thanks. Well thanks if you actually care

It’s the same with players, if you start to assassinate the warden, it’s fair game, the kill is only yours once you stab the orb on his back. Anybody can run up behind the warden, but only a few people can survive to pull off the assassination.

You can still take the kill after the animation finishes though. Warden isn’t considered “dead” until after his death animation finishes. This is because Warden doesn’t actually receive damage from the assassination.
Edit: This also explains why Warden doesn’t play his death sound when you assassinate him.
This is the same thing with any Promethean enemy, with the sole exception of Crawlers (and I haven’t assassinated a Watcher but once in H4, so I don’t know about them).
