STAY TRUE TO HALO

I’ve heard a lot of concerning rumors that Halo 5 is falling way too far from its roots. I say keep away from how Call of Duty plays. All 343 Industries will do is marginalize their fan base. If people wanted to play Call of Duty and not Halo, then they would play Call of Duty and not Halo. Stay true to Halo… stay true to what made the series great, the things that the fans want and will scrutinize heavily and it is done poorly, and they will never forgive.

Hopefully my concerns are proven false.

They are staying true to halo.

No loadouts
No perks
Map control
No ordinances
No traditional ADS (SS is only aesthetic in scoped weapons and in others is just a lttle zoom)

It’s just the slow paced (now a little bit more fast paced) arena shooter we all know and love, but with some abilities to improve the movement. Some of them may need tweaks, but it’s a beta for a reason.

Well, what constitutes “true Halo”? I know a lot of people say to make Halo 5 like Halo 1, 2 and 3, but those three games all had pretty noticeable differences. Halo 1 plays different than Halo 2 for example.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think you understand how the abilities are being implemented.

halo reach took the first steps to becoming more like COD (while doing some new things right in my opinion like “invasion” with 3 stage objective matches)
halo 4 tried to smooth over and perfect the COD elements like loadouts
but as Neothunder explains so far from what we know halo 5 is going back to the true halo core experience (aka like halo 3) but with some updates to movement for all Spartans and more focus on map control even for more casual players
countdown icon appears over sniper spawn, spawning in 20 seconds

Traditional Halo is an arena shooter. Halo 5 sure looks like an arena shooter to me.

Traditional Halo = Arena Shooter.

Arena Shooters MUST have the following factors;

  • All players spawn with equal opportunity when it comes to player ability and potential allowing for predictability in encounters- Players are not given weapons, items or abilities through pre-selected loadouts but instead must fight to attain the ones that are placed on the map.- Weapons and items are placed on the map in such a way as to influence map movement and player positioning.- There are no defined roles or specializations for players in the game; everyone is the same and only their play style and skill can influence their performance in game. Now lets review:

  • Yes. Every player is on the same footing. There isn’t anything you can’t do that another cant’ and you can learn the new abilities for predictable encounters.- Everyone spawns with the same primary weapon, Secondary weapon and the same abilities. There are no loadouts of any kind and everything else in on the map.- Yes. Weapons and Power-Ups are placed on the map. Map Control is still a huge factor.- And again, Yes. Everyone is the same. There are no determined roles or classes that we can choose.I understand players concerns with Halo 5, But It’s not straying away from Halo’s Arena roots. If anything, It’s more of an Arena shooter than Halo 2 and 3 combined. My guess is that players are turned off by Halo 5 because of that. But I say, Give it a fair shot! It’s an Arena shooter, Just like we asked for.

they even said on the vidoc that if they went to far with the updates the basically broke the game. 343 will not do that to halo. yes halo will have no things. people need to understand that overtime a game has to be updated. it cant be the same crap over and over.

Thrusters, were already in halo, ss isn’t ads, sprinting works differently(tied to shields, melee and slide), descope, charge isn’t in cod, ground pound requires a charge and must be aimed, not just a button press like in cod or destiny.the only things that are really generic in nature are slide and clamber, both of which I think halo 5 could do better without as of now, but I’ll wait for the beta.
