Stay positive wait till august/September

Now that we got our concerns out the way. I say we stay positive until we see more. If come August/September the game still looks rough… Well, then it’s been a wild ride gentleman. I’ll see you guys in MCC from time to time.

In this case I believe staying cautious is more logical.

Things are not looking good nor are the rumours about development hell with Halo: Infinite.

I would be more enthused with this thread, if they gave us a date at the end of the showcase. My hunch is MS, wants Sony to make the next move and then try to follow it up with a strong showing. This console war is causing a slow burn on details and dates that is frustrating me. If E3 wasn’t cancelled I wonder if the release date and price for the Series X would have been announced.

More concerning is that this game should have been gold by now. There should have been a release date announced and system requirements. Everything points to a needed delay but undoubtedly they will rush it out to meet deadlines. And the fact that there is also no release date for the Xbox Series X is insane with around 5 months left of the year remaining.

This console war is indeed annoying.

Most likely, we would also have gotten a “better” Demo Showcase of Halo Infinite, with a newer build. But things happend.

If you are referring to COVID19 be aware that many other developers whom are also working from home pushed out quality products…

So that excuse does not fly. Definitely when 343 still had the good part of nearly 5 years of development to get stuff done.

Nah, this is basically what the game will look like. It’s not going to change drastically in the last few months of a 5 year dev cycle. At best, they’ll fix the draw distance pop ins and fix some textures, but visually what was shown is pretty much what we’ll get

One thing I will say is that this game will shine in more than one way and it already is with like a shred of gameplay. It also seems like there is people both outside and inside of the halo community that wants to play this which is something I never thought 343 could pull off… Yes this game might not shine graphicly but everything else is golden… You cant tell me the moment he walked out the pelican you didn’t want to explore evvveeeryything!! Ik I did… To me I think if they iron out the texture popins and draw distance this game will be the best we’ve had since reach.

But will max 4 months be enough time?

Remember that the rest of the game likely looks worse and has bigger issues then that slice of edited gameplay they were willing to reveal to the public…

And the release will feel like an early access title. Hence the platform for 10 years speak which basically means live service. Live service games of which have a habit of releasing in unfinished poor states.

They know the Live Service term is a dirty term now and thus avoided saying it.

Isnt it crazy that all we have so far is campaign gameplay? They re taking far too long to show us anything, we should ve seen multiplayer, live action trailers by now, basically everything concerning promotional material

After 4,5 I’ve learn to take Halo as it is…just not get my hopes up too much but at the same time try to have some faith, avoid getting the pitchforks out when a new Halo is getting revealed or at least wait till they’ve fully revealed most of the game. I’m still baffled as to why they showed an incomplete demo that didn’t help represent what is supposed to be the future of Xbox and Halo. Even if what they show in August/September is ‘decent’…I hope they do the right thing and delay the game if the game is still ‘incomplete’ but I hope the game has at least changed significantly enough to be ready for launch but I just hope they don’t try to rush out a launch with half a game that is irritable only ‘finished’ because of patch’s since that would make the physical copy ‘incomplete’.

With the marketing of all prior titles that was indeed the case.

I will be positive when 343 shows me something to be positive about. What we have seen so far is an absolute dumpster fire of a game.

Exactly. At the end of the day they are the ones who need to sell us the product. If it is not good enough then that’s their problem to address.

Yeah. & I will never let them use the pandemic as an excuse. You had five years. 343 is part of the problem, but I also blame Microsoft for having 343 make the game for current & next gen. It has clearly held the game back.

Agreed. I’ve still been expected to get my work done through this pandemic, so I have little sympathy for that excuse. It would be one thing if they showed something that looked like it was a few months behind, but from what we have seen so far, they look to be at a milestone closer to a year from release

I insist that we stop saying that they have had 5 years of development. Because that is not true.

Halo 5 was release in Fall 2015, Infinite will be released in Fall 2020.
They have had 5 years of development.

The fact that they chose to take 2 years out of this to redevelop a game engine, or that they needed to restart from scratch in the middle of the development is their own internal problems. Up until now Bungie and 343i were able to develop Halo titles in 3 years.

The fact that 343i has chosen to give itself 5 years between Halo 2 titles should have given them more time to polish the game.
Yet here we are 4 months before release hoping they will have the time to fix basically everything.

I hope it turns out good. But yes I am cautious also. Time will tell here.
