Stats for H3, ODST, and H2 are gone

I changed the name of my gamertag a while back, and I just realized all my stats for Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: ODST are gone. It says I have never played them before, and my 50 days of gameplay in Halo 3 would like to disagree with that. Is there anyway I can get my stats back? Thanks and sorry for wasting anybody’s time.

Hey OP, I’ve got good new and bad new for you.

Good new is that you can get most of your stats back. If you still have access to the games, just load them up and play some campaign / multiplayer / customs / forge - anything as long as you’re connected to Xbox Live. Sometimes it can be quick, other times it can take a while, but your stats should sync up to your new gamertag eventually.

The bad news is Halo 2 - because the original Xbox Live servers are no longer operational there’s no way to resync your Halo 2 stats to your new tag. The only way to get them back would be revert back to your old gamertag

I just ran into this same problem. Is a Live subscription required to get stats synced again or is it just based on the account playing Halo again?

I believe you need to be connected to Xbox Live for it sync correctly. Can always give it a try and see if it works without

Hey, yeah I have the same problem and luckily when I changed my tag name I made another account (I had a 1 week gold trial) and I made that my old gamertag because I was unsure of my stats transferring when I changed my tag… This was back in 2010, I had never changed my tag before and I was hesitant, but soon realized that all my in game leaderboard stats for all games (NOT including Halo games) were now updated to my new tag. Of course this was because your gamertag is just a name and not your actual account. Ive been playing halo forever and halo 2 is one of my all time favorites and I have many hours in that game, my stats show that (70,000 kills). I was lucky enough to have kept my old name with a backup gamertag, but it would really suck for people who didn’t do the same. What if someone else took their old gamertag name? its likely, considering theres millions of accounts being made every year. So if this happens, all your work is just gone and now someone else has all your stats? What happens if you change your tag years later when more servers and games are shutdown and can’t play to sync your stats? I hope theres a way to update this site to sync and maybe figure a way to sync based off your actual account instead of your tag name. Microsoft links everything to your account instead of your tag name to avoid issues like this… and as a matter of fact when I changed my tag back in 2010 (this is when bungie had the site/stats/leaderboards) My halo 2 stats were the only thing not there, but after a few months I checked the bungie.net site and my stats were suddenly there for halo 2. They must have had some scanner or update to link/sync the stats, because halo 2 had been shutdown for years at that time. Sorry for the long post, I’m just wondering if anything can be done. Thanks

The Xbox Live servers that ran Halo 2 and the original Xbox Live were only shut down in April of 2010, it’s possible during their final archive that some things were updated / resynced one final time. Accounts and stats worked a lot differently back then, everything wasn’t as interconnected and cloud driven as it is today. Accounts and games of today handle things a lot better so these issues shouldn’t really be a thing any more. I haven’t tested this, but I’m sure that games like Halo 4, MCC and 5 don’t need to be played again for stats to transfer over to a new gamertag, it should be automatic

Yeah it was 2010 when they shutdown Xbox live on the original xbox, but wasn’t the halo 2 servers shutdown before then? Sorry its been years so my memory is a little foggy. Ether way though my tag name was changed AFTER the servers and Xbox live was shutdown. I hadn’t played halo 2 for many years so I know I didn’t sync it by playing… So I’m still confused on how bungie updated/synced everything and how that’s not possible now… Another thing I’m confused about is it updated/synced all my stats on bungee.net, but now that the site is reinstated with 343 my halo 2 stats are now gone. So that’s weird… and yes you are right about the cloud integration, its really nice, but the problem is that’s only with the Xbox One and not the 360. The 360 is essentially the original Xbox, and when the 360 does shutdown which it will eventually, we will have the same problem with our stats on this site if we change are tag name. This is why the OP and everyone else that changes their tag doesn’t have any of their halo stats that are on the 360. Since Halo 5 and MCC are Xbox One those are automatic like you mentioned, but as for Halo 3, ODST, Reach and 4 these will all be in the same situation as halo 2 when the servers and Xbox Live shuts down on 360.

They both went down at the same time - Halo 2 was one of the last games played. I’m not 100% on how everything works I’m afraid, really just going by what I’ve observed and read over the years
