Stats and Medals

I know that both bungie.net, halowaypoint.com and the halo waypoint app no longer stat track but is there any way for players to be able to look up there stats and medal chest? I was taking a look at legacy.halotracker.com but it didn’t seem to show unearned medals and such. Any suggestions (websites or apps) would be greatly appreciated.

The thing is you should still be able to see medals on this site. The mods released a statement saying that feature would be available until March 1 but within the last day or two they decided to remove it early without saying anything at all. I dont know if its a mistake or not but I made a post about this and its been almost 24 hrs with no reply ( and i know a mod has probably seen it since theres a recent mod post telling someone not to post in spanish right above my post). If this sounds kinda nuts to you thats fine cuz i dont get it either. Why bother giving us a date when the stats are going away if you are just going to remove them early with no warning?

Moderators here don’t work for 343 so we have no idea. It was 343’s Community Manager that released the statement - the plan was March 1st but anything could have happened over the last 24 hours. A number of the team are also out at HCS Orlando right now

Thats fair enough and thanks for your reply. Still pretty bizarre for the community manager to release a statement like that however if the stats are actually going down before that… I’m just hoping that app comes back before March 1 as I was hoping to get some last screenshots before it went down.

Hmm, that’s weird. I don’t know why they would even pull it to begin with.

Halowaypoint should be about fostering a robust community and support for Halo (the IP is not just a game, but also the player base). I understand it gets taxing to support older titles, whether it be with updates, patches and fixes, or even keeping servers live but being able to look up your stats is such a light task that I never understand when that kind of feature is dropped. Like… there are games and services that shut down, but players love it so much they are willing to revitalize it and support it on their own (i.e. xbconnect allowing players to play original xbox games online via system link over the internet Project Cartographer bringing Halo 2 PC back to life, fans brought Halo Online to the West when Microsoft refuses to, even Bungie patched Halo: Combat Evolved on PC back in May 2014 so players can play online even though gamespy servers don’t exist any more).

I remember there used to be a Halo: Reach API released, maybe if I find it hosted somewhere I can use it to make an app to continue keeping track of stats and stuff even if its just a spread sheet on my desktop or something.

Thanks for the input.

Tbqh man I don’t get it either. I mean, I understand that the software is old and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a royal pain to keep operational. But the thing is, we are not talking about a small game or an indie company. We are talking about a game that sold extremely well and a company that is worth more than the GDP of some mid-sized countries. It’s just a real shame they have to pull the stat support from this game, and I believe it’s another step in Reach’s slow but assured death (after Bungie pulled stat support from h3 a massive population dropoff occurred over the following year, I remember cuz I was there.) What’s most upsetting about all this to me is the fact that the community manager released that statement telling us we would have until March 1 only for them to pull the stats 2 weeks early. I really wanted to get some final screenshots of my stats since I’ve played this game almost since release, and foolish me decided I could take the community manager at his word and wait to get them until the 27th or so.

The fact that the mod “stckrboy” told us that Waypoint mods have nothing to do with this likely means we are never seeing those stats again. It’s too bad they couldn’t have done what Bungie did for h3 and archive the stats, even if they won’t be updated anymore.

The ONLY silver lining I see in this situation is that modern games are mostly moving away from this kind of crap and are providing extremely detailed stat tracking in game. So this is less likely to be a problem in the future, but it is definitely unfortunate for us now.

They put the stats back up, if you wanna get some accurate readings before they go down for good nows the chance.

Thanks for the heads up!
