If there’s one thing that Bungie excelled at, it was keeping track of every player’s service records from Halo 2 all the way to Reach. A full breakdown of weapons used/killed with, a full K/D spread, complete medal count, spreadsheets of every game played on every map, the list goes on and on.
As every fan is aware by now, the MCC has a somewhat vague statistic tracker, mostly in how it keeps count of what medals were earned (if it’s not suffering from any bugs), as well as a bare-bones K/D spread. Everything else is omitted. This is quite distressing, as every Halo fan yearns for visual progress in their competitive endeavors. To have such a necessity absent is both alarming and worrisome. And the fact that it has yet to be utilized nearly three years later is even more so.
Now I’m not claiming 343i for being absent-minded of Halo and its legions of loyal fans, but if the shoe fits, lace it up. If Guardians can have a breakdown of statistics, so can the MCC. It’s only not possible if they choose not to take aim at the fan’s passions and wants.
I hereby petition that 343i take the initiative and release further updates to the MCC, both fixing all its problems and giving fans a little more incentive in return. The best way to kill off a fanbase is to lose their trust and ruin the franchise’s infrastructure, and they’ve succeeded at doing both of these things thus far. If not for money, do it for the love each and every fan has for the series. Release updates that alleviate the problems of the MCC, while continually adding to the experience, rather than just lazily hodge-podging it all together into one mess.
This petition is not just limited to my voice, but to all voiceless fans who want to be heard, but are turned off by the ignorant corporate ears of both 343i and Microsoft. As a both a longtime fan of Halo and Microsoft, I implore you to initiate more acknowledgment into the MCC, and the Halo franchise as a whole. Your fans are waiting, they’ve been waiting in the dark for too long.
Get it done.
