This map started off as Diesel and I just messing around with the new pieces on the forge map Impact. Quickly I put a map together using only a few pieces, creating the simplest design that would still work well for competitive play. After a few test games I found that the map was too big because of the prefabricated pieces. I asked Uno for some help, and he found a way to shrink the corners of the map, thus pulling the map closer to the center. This would speed up game play while still having limited routes throughout the map.
The idea behind the map was to have the simplest design possible with the most limited routes possible without having the map be capable. This theory would be put to the test and eventually even altered because of numerous test games. Some areas would prove to be too capable so some additional lines of sight would have to be added.
Extraction was a gametype everyone was raving about since the release of Halo 4. Even though people would say “extraction is so fun” or “it’s the new slayer”, there wasn’t a true extraction map that everyone played it on. In fact before this map was release, almost no pro even knew what the gametype was. I wanted to change that. KotH played extremely well on Station 9 so I thought extraction could work as well. After a few test games I knew that extraction was going to be Station 9’s best gametype.
