It would be incredibly stupid for them to sell parts and pieces for forge, there would be legit mutiny. Would those maps and modes only be available to players that have purchased all the weapons, blocks, and tools? That would result in splitting the fan base, which most modern game developers have realized is not good for the player base. I could maybe see them selling forge as a whole, or making it part of the campaign purchase, but that would also be a dumb move.
Having said all that, 343 has made some real head scratcher decisions.
I agree there could be some good creativity with them, but their AI is going to be limited to basic combat. Getting them to run through an obstacle course like duck hunt seems unlikely.
I don’t know, but I’m jonesing for Forge news. It’s been silence since late 2021 and it’s bumming me out.
Maybe we get a roadmap later today.
The hopium is running out
You’re really underestimating the current AAA marketplace. I would be surprised if they DIDN’T sell different prefab “theme” packs for forge, and only providing generic forerunner pieces for anyone who doesn’t want to pay.
Never said it was for sure BR or even a big game mode, only that current rumors passing around are that 343 is either doing Warzone 2.0 or a BR mode next.
Like it or not… a BR mode is just about the only thing that would save this game at this point.
Forge will probably run like Theatre when it finally launches lol
If the current state of the game is truly as dire as you think, then a BR mode wouldn’t save Halo Infinite. It would replace it.
Also, all you have to do is look at the effect that events have on concurrent player counts to see that 343 has plenty of options to improve retention (more activities, more rewards to play for, bug fixes).
So, no. I reject this idea that a “BR mode is just about the only thing that would save” Halo Infinite.
But what about non-forgers that don’t buy those packs, would they not be able to even play on those maps?
You are right. We would need a developer with a functioning brain to fix the series at this point.
I would assume you would just pay to be able to use them in your own personal forge maps, loading up maps from others that include them would be fine. I’m not saying it’s for sure gonna happen, but we live in an age where even singleplayer games are loaded up with microtransactions if it’s coming from a AAA studio. Forge asset packs are not far-fetched at all.
I suppose that is a possibility, if I bought the extras for forge and you didn’t, then you could download my maps but just not open them up in forge. I still don’t see that as very likely since only serious forgers would buy, so 343 wouldn’t make much money from it, while also stifling community content and therefore game longevity.
But again, a lot of things with Infinite seem to be more about the quick cash than long investment.
That’s fine. I’d personally would love to see Halo have a Battle Royale. It would be fun as heck.
