State of UEG and ONI as of Guardians ending

At the end of Halo 5: Guardians, Cortana arrives at Earth with a Guardian and sends out the massive EMP and wipes out all the tech on Earth. Now, this is of course the capital of the UEG and ONI and I’m sure they’re in a really bad problem right now. If you had to say, what do you think is going to happen to the UEG and ONI after Cortana wiped out all the tech on Earth?

They are going to regroup, then they are going to get hit again and again until they learn how to fight back.

Was it confirmed that was Earth at the end of the game?

Nah, not at all actually. And I kinda doubt it was considering Cortana asks ‘where is Infinity, why is she so hard to see?’ and ‘found you’. Wouldn’t Earth be like the first place she looks?

True.

Functionally non-existent. All of their infrastructure, information, communications, and ships are now under the control of the enemy. The lack of power and basic necessities along with the collapse of the authorities will soon lead to mass scale panic and looting on the streets and a total breakdown of social order. All Cortana has to do is wait it out until the population finally bow to her demands before they starve, including the military forces because they have families to think about and can’t really fight back anyway. I think that the UEG, UNSC and ONI are about to go the same way as the Covenant.

You sure hope that. ONI may still exist if its AI are loyal, if they manage to defend their space stations that aren’t in systems were guardians were sent and if ships like the point of no return managed to escape as the infinity. UEG doesn’t exist and what’s left of the UNSC is probably all on the Infinity.

No, but wasn’t there an ODP the Guardian pulse passed over? Can you get them anywhere other than Earth?

Oh -Yoink!-, if that was Earth, then that means Cortana may well have access to the Excession at Voi, which she could activate to gain access to (Hunters in the Dark spoiler)

A moniter-free Installation 00.

Think of Mad Max or Gears of War 3, but in space.
Even if they succeed in defeating Cortana and the Guardians, the aftermath of the rebellion is going to be felt for a very long time.

Yes, other colonies have their own defense grids. It was said that Infiltrator armor was tested in the battleclusters of New Carthage for example. I don’t believe they were over Earth either because Roland said Cortana had cut off systems from Earth to the colonies but a Guardian hadn’t arrived and disabled their planet yet.

The creepiest part of the whole A.I. uprising for me would be that there are no secrets and there is nowhere to hide.
Cortana knew about the Infinity being in production before it was revealed. That was a top level, need to know, behind the iron curtain construction operation.

Well, Reach and most other population centers had Orbital Defense Stations, just not as many as Earth, during the Covenant War. For instance, a such station destroys the fleeing Corvette at the end-cutscene at teh second mission on Halo Reach. Since there are quite a few of them, this rather proves the planet to be a smaller colony, and at least not Earth.

Not necesarily. It was just one planet, probably not even Earth, so a great military order like the UNSC could easily return order and rebuild the world

That and the insurrection will definitely kick em while they’re down. If there wasn’t a gaurdian on venizia Then they could be in some deep -Yoink-

UEG: HOLYWTFBBQ YUDODIS PANIC!

ONI: Still more prickish than Cortana’s Ego. Nothing to see here, move along. Also, have some Explosive Rounds.

I actually believe that this might be New Carthage as it an Orbital Defenses like Earth’s. It would also make sense for it to be New Carthage with how the Infinity could use new weapons and vehicles to fight against Cortana and New Carthage is home to the Hannibal Weapon system. I just don’t want it to be Earth and how the planet seems to have more lights visible from space during the cutscene.
