State of FPS. - interesting video

Here’s the video.
I found it interesting so I wanted to share it and see what people thought about it.

Old school shooters versus modern military FPS.

UT, Doom, Marathon, etc… Were very great experiences(I’m speaking MP particularly even though that vid was mainly talking about sp.) Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 to an extent are the style of FPS that I want in a game. The biggest thing that I hate in modern FPS games are loadout weapons. When you have a variety of loadout weapons all of a sudden you have to have multiple weapons that can retain some balance. All fully auto rifles start losing their niche quality and they all start playing similarly. Same could be said about the precision rifles. What’s the point? People are just going to usually flock to the rifles that have some sort of advantage. The players that don’t are just going to get toasted. I like the idea of starting even and scavenging. While Halo still has map pickups they aren’t nearly as important when you can start with BR, Jetpack, etc…

The arena aspect of current shooters has pretty much all but disappeared. I like how Legendary Slayer is turning out and it just might be the only thing to get me back into playing Halo 4 again. The only thing it truly needs now are some more arena style maps. Even though I hate the Pit, Pitfall still blows most of the H4 maps out of the water and has some arena style values. 343/CA are starting to show some good things though. Map quality started with Haven then Monolith and Skyline and not Pitfall. It really looks like 343 are trying to bring Halo back to what it used to be. I really hope 343 pushes for Halo 5 to have a more arena-like feel.

Sorry if I wondered off from the topic a little bit.
