State of Assassinations

I’ve noticed a drastic change in the number of assassinations present in all gamemodes of Halo 5 compared to Halo Reach.

So first, let me ask you a question. How many times have you caught an enemy off-guard and attempted an assassination, but then got your kill stolen by 5 other teammates spartan charging or shooting your victim, mid-animation?

I can not remember any time during my Reach gameplay, that this ever happened. Correct me if I’m wrong, but couldn’t you not kill an enemy that is being assassinated?

Another thing that hinders the number is the spartan charge mechanic. Most people initiate an assassination by getting in close, then sprinting into the enemy’s back and going in for the kill. I can not count how many times I have failed a perfect assassination attempt by charging an enemy in the back.

Yoink medal was a thing in reach and I’ve done it multiple times.

You were rewarded for killing enemies that were being assassinated in Reach. There was a medal dedicated to it.

Well. Considering Reach had this lovely medal specifically awarded to those who stole assassinations, you must have been the luckiest Spartan on Reach.

Yeah I guess I was xP
Damn so they reward you for being an -Yoink-

Even after that point though, we can all still agree that assassinations are harder to accomplish?

No, for getting a Yoink!

Oh shoot I got censored lol

So how does it work, do I still get the assassination and the guy stealing the kill get the assist. Or do I get the assist and the other guy gets the kill?

If you’re assassinating and someone steals it from you, all you get is a lousy assist. Thief gets the kill.

They do this because you’re just trying to show off with an assassination. They take a lot longer to complete then a simple punch to the back. In previous games it wasn’t as bad since it took time for the enemy to reach you, but in Halo 5 someone could at your spot in seconds and you’d die because you choose to be flashy for all of one kill.

When you sprint, you have to stop before you start the assassination, otherwise you’ll Spartan Charge instead.

Yeah I think you should not be able to steal assassinations. Spartan Charge is understandable because it is a feature in a game, but it doesn’t have a sensor if you’re spartan charging the back. Honestly, that shouldn’t be a problem because it is faster than an assassination and it can’t get stolen. One thing very frustrating though is when you get the perfect ninja and then ground pound instead. Just -_-

Don’t you get more xp for assassinating though?

I wish it was easier getting assassination animations.
