Starving

What exactly is the Master Chief going to do for food? Kill and eat alien wildlife? He probably hasn’t had a meal since before they left to go to The Ark. This is a serious question and probably one that 343i will completely ignore.

He eats between the cutscenes.

Hes a Spartan 2, hes not a regular Human.

> He eats between the cutscenes.

Eats what? Grunt legs?

> Hes a Spartan 2, hes not a regular Human.

Okay? He still needs to eat, sleep, and use the restroom like “regular humans”

He’s wearing a suit of armor. I think it’s fair to assume that they can go to the bathroom in it.

He’s a soldier. Any soldier can attest to the fact that when you’re deployed, you grab sleep whenever you can. Sometimes you go days without it. .

The same goes for food sometimes. Food is the only legitimate thing that we can ask about. Where is he? What will he do for food? I mean, it’s a game, and it wouldn’t be fun if every cut scene was him eating or going to the bathroom. It’d be cool if we could see him maybe grabbing something to eat in a cut scene on the way to somewhere, but his helmet would be off, and we don’t know if his face is going to be shown in this trilogy.

Why do you think he went into cyrosleep? Why does cryosleep even exist? It wouldn’t be feasible to pack enough food for a ships crew for an extended trip in space, and non-essential personnel are put into cyro. Back to the Chief, he’s stranded, and it wouldn’t be wise to use up any food he may have instead of just going into cyro until a time where he could actually do something about his situation.

Simply put, I’m sure he’ll be in a position to eat something sometime in this new game trilogy, even though we probably won’t see it. We haven’t seen it in any other game up until this point, have we?

I wasn’t really asking about sleeping and using the bathroom, I was merely stating he still does those things like regular humans and no we haven’t seen him eat. The only time we know about him doing so was in the book The Flood, he only ate then because he was in a secure base with nothing to do.
He hasn’t had any time to set down and just relax for 10 mins(except for the preparations to go through the portal). As for food being on the Dawn there is no way it would survive the ship crashing into the planet. Unless of course there is a super secure storage locker full of MRE’s

Now that you mention The Flood, that’s pretty much the dividing line. One’s a game, and one’s a novel, even if they cover the same events. In a book, it wouldn’t be feasible to never mention a main character resting or eating. In a game - a game that’s not an RPG - it’s implied. This is a shooter, not an RPG.

While it would be nice to be addressed in the game, it’s not exactly essential to the story telling because it should be implied. So don’t assume that they’re going to put him in a situation where he absolutely can not eat anything and die of starvation. That’s not a fun game story, is it?

Back before Halo 3, someone asked one of the employees and they said that his suit cleanses and purifies his urine into fresh water since it is a source for that only with some bad elements in it and the rest lets not go itno discussion kl

That covers water, but still doesn’t address food

In The Flood, Master Chief eats a nutrient bar of sorts while in the field. He probably carries multiple on him and eats one when he needs one. A normal human can go without food for 1 week+, a SPARTAN probably more so, and combine that with the high amounts of energy/nutrients that are likely in these bars, and He could survive for quite some time. At least enough to find a food source.

Pretty sure Mjonlir armor filters waste and recycles it.

He would still need fresh food and water, but not nearly as much.

I don’t think water would be an issue, I’m sure the strucutre has lakes and rivers, as for food, i’m sure it has trees with fruit.

Eating will be the least of your worries depending on whatever enemy 343i will make you fight.

Its like asking “what exactly happens when the chief gets wood whilst in mjolnir armour?” eg its totally irrelevant. Also protip, real astronoughts wear space nappies so they can go whilst on EVA.

MC goes a step above that. His underwear recycles waste.

What the hell are you talking about? How is him finding food in any way similar to him getting an erection in his suit?

When you are taking on a Xenophobic empire or a life consuming parasite that threatens the galaxy, it doesn’t leave much room for a regular dinner.

That’s why you eat Moa Burgers. Healthy, reliable, and cheap. It’s just want the doctor ordered.

Actually, I think this topic is kind of interesting… sort of

Technically the chief is still Human, and a Normal Human would use wayy less body energy than a spartan. I think it was referenced somewhere in a book that Spartans required a higher calorie diet than normal humans because their bodies had to operate many different things at top capacity all the time… as well as run the Neural interface
Kind of how any computer can play a game on regular video settings, but the second you set it up to extreme your computer starts to pump it requiring more Resources. Basically what I’m getting at is I think is that since Spartans require more energy -food- he would be able to go for a little under a week without it.

… And now I just realized how much I am over thinking it. But still, the topic is in a way interesting.

Win,win,win

Well on the concept art for Halo 4 we can see birds flying around as well as what looks like engineers (Engineers were made by the forerunners if i’m not mistaken) as well as fish. So it doesn’t seem as if theres a lack of food on the forerunner planet (Are engineers edible?). There are also forerunner ships (I assume they’re forerunner) flying around so maybe he’ll run into some kindly aliens who take pity on him? Then again, the ships could be unmanned.
