Before you guys read this thread read this: this is a thread complaining about the imbalance of the main starting weapons (AR, BR, DMR) so if you don’t wanna hear it for the hundredth time move along.
Now… let me start off by saying my main starting weapon is the Assault rifle. By that statement alone you can start to see the problems here…now I’m fully aware that the BR and the DMR for the most part should outperform this weapon at anything but close to semi-close range. Unfortunately this is not the case and no I’m not bad with the AR, pretty much all of my 700+ kills are from this gun. Now as pretty much all of you claim the AR can and will defeat other players at close range. Nope. I’ve seen it wayyyyyy too many times: I will see an enemy, actually get the first shot in and then be defeated as it takes way less shots from the BR, DMR to defeat the weapon. I’ve acclimated to the situation enough to just stop fighting the second I see the slow rate of bullets coming out of their gun as it’s just wishful thinking to think I would beat them outside of immediate melee range. SO! What I propose is boost up the Assault Rifles damage when an enemy loses their shields. I believe it takes 6 bullets to kill an enemy with downed shields. Know how many it takes to kill an opponent with no shields with the BR, DMR? 1. Either boost up the AR damage or tone down the BR and DMR. It’s seriously so frustrating of a Halo game to discourage running around, finding players and duking it out and instead have everyone stand at mid range and just take potshots with semi-auto weapons until someone drops dead.
TL;DR: Assault Rifle has NO chance against a BR and DMR outside of immediate melee range.
