Starting Grenades and Instant Respawn

Okay so does anyone think that we should only start with just one grenade?

It has been previously stated that grenades in Halo 4 are only allowed to be picked up off the map or if the player has the “chosen load out ability”. I thought this was a great idea because of bad grenades were used in Halo Reach. However, I feel that this has returned in Halo 4. It may be because the people on the other team have that in their load out, but I doubt it since it has been happening to me a lot. I feel that it’s the same in Halo 4 due to the instant respawn setting. This occurs a lot in infinity slayer on closed maps like Haven and Adrift.

Ex: my team is fighting the other team in an area and we take out one of 2/4 of their players then we progress to kill the others only to have the other two players we just killed immediately show up to assist the other two by throwing grenades at us while our shields our still regenerating.

Think about it. In Halo Reach we would have two grenades with a 5 second respawn. Now in Halo 4 we have 2 grenades with instant respawn. How is this helping with the grenade spamming? Also, what is the point of killing someone just to come in contact with them within 10-15 ft of where you just killed them and they finish you off from the damage they caused from before. So basically the game is telling I have to kill someone and then just hide and not to try and progress anywhere in the map. I like Halo 4 and play it more than any other game, but I’m stating my opinion and feel that this (grenades and instant respawning) should be looked at.

I actually feel much more comfortable with two grenades, specifically Plasma’s. I do, however, think players who start with Pulse grenades, should start with two. Make it even in a way. It may sound bad, but if you miss one, its good to have one more lucky back-up.

ya I mean two would have the classic Halo feel to it but then i feel instant respawn should be turned off, at least for small maps

> ya I mean two would have the classic Halo feel to it but then i feel instant respawn should be turned off, at least for small maps

True, i was thinking the opposite with instant respawn on Small maps, and 5 second spawn on BTB. But now that you said that, I changed my mind. Usually, when i die on small maps, i want to instant respawn to go after the player that killed me.

well that’d be fine if shields would regenerate faster because why should the person who killed you be punished for coming out on top. By you running back to kill him is pretty much like as if ya’ll would have actually killed each other at the same time. I mean ya you are suppose to reach 600 first but I don’t think the score should be reached in a way were its I kill you you kill me i kill you you kill me

grenades and instant spawn are there for a reason: to give the people who wouldnt normally get kills, kills. This franchise is mainstreamed, and its all about profits and selling copies. more death = more copies. or so they thought. its been getting worse and worse from Halo 2. And i remember a quote, IN PRINT from Bungie, from Halo 2.

“We’re making it so that anyone can pick up a controller, even your grandma, and they’ll get kills.”

And that’s what we have to compete with now. constant death.

Ive stuck around for years for the competitive aspect of Halo, but its about time to give up.

What I’d like:
2 Frags
2 Pulse
1 Plasma

The weird setup right now:
2 Frags
1 Pulse
2 Plasma

This is exactly how it should be. I’ll never understand why they made it so you can only have a Pulse Grenade when Stickies are obviously better.

My…poor Plasma Grenades. Why doesn’t it all just start with two.
The way i see it:
2 Frags
2 Plasmas
2 Pulses
The reason is that, and many players would disagree with me. I’ve always like the Plasma, especially when you want to blow the hell out of those driving around being cheap with the Warthog, specifically Gauss. Most of the time, i rather have a grenade stick on the vehicle, b/c with the Frags, it will bounce off and hit someone else. i did one time and i lead to a betrayal. With the Pulse, once someone hit the Warthog, it Will hit, but it will remain in place, and the Warthog would escape unharmed. Its also, useful to have two plasmas, b/c in case, someone missed a vehicle, you have a better chance of nailing it. If someone missed, then i would say “I’m sorry, you are one bad pitcher”, lol.

I can see where you’re coming from, but honestly, if you’re decent with them, they totally break vehicular combat. Vehicles don’t last very long. As much as I like them, I’d like to see them limited to one in Big Team at the very least.

Well, with small non-vehicle maps, two is fine. With BTB, i’m not so sure, cuz i tend to be the one, especially on everyone’s favorite, Exile, always end up blowing up the Gauss Warthog and the Scorpion. However, 1 Plasma grenade would be okay, if only there was a starting drop on the map, like on the blue side of Ragnarok. I believe on the right hill, has two plasma grenades to pick up. If most BTB maps had that, along with Frags, and Pulse’s, then i would definitely agree to having 1 starting Plasma grenade. I have to say, i’m pretty surprised players start with one Pulse Grenade. If their were two, it would do wonders on Objective, Dominion, and Extraction. I used it once on KotH, and i didn’t expect it to be that useful.
