It was difficult to find kill times for all the weapons because everywhere I went had variation. So I just averaged the times.
DMR is currently the strongest, and all around starter. It has a kill time of about 1.5 seconds at all ranges. It is faster than all the other precision weapons at all ranges except the Light Rifle at long range. It has an incredible amount of aim assist. Only tweak needed here is to reduce the aim assist. By a lot. I swear the bullet seeks the enemy when I shoot them. Also, there is no “randomness” when the reticle blooms. There’s a video on youtube for this. Even when the reticle blooms, it still hits in the general center of the reticle. They should probably introduce a little more randomness because it is too easy to get a headshot.
Carbine is currently the weakest precision weapon. It has a kill time is about 1.7 seconds. It’s not extremely slow, but it does take more shots to win. It has a fair amount of randomness. They should decrease the number of shots to kill by 1, and slightly decrease the rate of fire. Just a LITTLE bit. Hopefully this will decrease the kill time to about 1.5-1.6 seconds.
The BR is in the middle, but it is the most inaccurate and ineffective precision weapon. It is the only weapon that has a horrible spread, as it has recoil. Based on a test where a player shot at a wall from the same distance without controlling the aiming stick, the bullet had a long vertical spread. The kill time on the BR is about 1.8 seconds. It also has a natural spread so it can be harder to hit the head. It also requires more skill to control the upward climb of the recoil. First, they should reduce the amount of recoil. They should also make the BR a 4 shot kill, and reduce the rate of fire. The 4th shot will kill only if the last bullet in the 4th burst hits the head. A good example of this is if you play a custom game with 110% damage. This should reduce the kill time to about the same or lower than the DMR.
The LR is fairly balance. Zoomed, it has a kill time of about 1.4 second. Unzoomed, it has a kill time of about 1.9 seconds. If at least one of the shots from the LR was zoomed, it still only takes 4 shots, which is 1.4 seconds. LR is a very good weapon that takes some skill to use. It seems pretty balanced. I would say you could reduce the recoil a bit.
Any automatic starter. They are only good at a close range, but they do not have as much spread as they should. All automatics should have increased randomness and spread.
The Suppressor has the largest bloom, so it is fine as it is. The other weapons, AR and SR, should have the same bloom as the suppressor.
Obviously the aim assist on all these weapons should be reduced. Also, the general kill times of all precision weapons at a medium range (except for LR because it varies based on zoom or not) should be around 1.5-1.6 seconds. The randomness in the DMR is the create more misses if the weapon is spammed. The BR has a range problem so it is difficult to hit people from a far. The LR is fairly balanced. The carbine just needs a damage buff because it is not viable.

No, I would absolutely not support this. I do not want another Reach AR.

Every AR in the history of Halo has had a bigger spread that the one in Halo 4. Even in the first Halo, the spread was more. There is video testing that shows the exact spread at about a medium range. It is way too small for the weapon to be an “automatic” weapon. Only exclusion to this is the suppressor, which has a much larger bloom than the rest.

And just because it was different in the past it should be that way here? Nope, will not support.
The AR is specifically stated to be “effective at medium and close range”. Sounds fine to me.

The only reason people would support automatic weapons to be this powerful is because they do not have the skill to use a precision weapon.
Besides, the automatic weapons themselves are not balanced. The AR and SR have much less spread than the suppressor. They should all have the same spread so they all have similar effectiveness.
They should also have the AR do more “damage” but the SR do more “shield damage”. Therefore the AR is better at killing an unshielded opponent, but the SR is better at taking down shields. The Suppressor should be the balance between the do, doing medium shield and physical damage, but not beating the SR in shield damage, and not beating the AR in physical damage.

That sir, is an absolute load of crap and a total cop-out of an argument.
I support all weapons being great, and after suffering with Reach’s piss poor AR I do NOT want to see that happen again. This is the first time that the AR has actually been a good weapon since Halo 3 and that is a good thing. It’s also a good thing that the vaunted precision weapons are no longer the undisputed ruling weapons for all ranges. We’ve already suffered with that in Halo 2 and it’s god-tier BR.

The Suppressor is much like an SMG, less accurate than an assault rifle but with a much faster rate of fire. The AR and SR are line infantry rifles with an understandable increase in accuracy, they are RIFLES after all.

As far as I know this is actually how they work currently with the AR tearing at health and the SR being better at stripping shields, no idea on the Suppressor as I stay away from Forerunner junk.

The AR can be used out to medium range and is still slightly inferior to the BR. The other automatics are mainly close range.

No, automatic weapons is fine as they are. They should kick a dmrs as in close combat.
All weopens have diffrent uses. Nerfing the AR would mean no one would use it and forceing everyone to use the dmr/br/crabine/lightrifle because they are better and stronger in every situation.
It’s actually fairly easy to find the exact kill times out for yourself. All you need to is watch a theatre clip in slow motion of you firing weapons as fast as you can. When you watch a theatre clip in slowmo in halo it appears as a series of still images/ frames as opposed to true slowmo. All you need to do is count the number of frames and divide by 30 to get your kill time. (halo runs at 30fps)
