At least 70% of my ranked games has one or more players quit. 20% of them quit in the loading screen before the match Spartan intro even starts. 60% of them quit in the first few minutes regardless of whether we’re winning or losing. The remaining 20% give up halfway.
And those are the quitters.
What’s worse is flipping through the spectator cam to see teammates literally just standing and doing nothing after having spawned in. What exactly are they doing? Adjusting settings? Ran of controller battery? Alt-tab to Chrome to start up a yotuube video? Staring at the paint on the wall? Throwing the game so that their buddy on the other team who’s in a discord chat can rank up? This is ridiculous.
Implement an AFK timer of 10 seconds for every player in the match. If anyone is caught having not moved/fired at an enemy/etc. in those 10 seconds they get auto kicked and the match mmr gets refunded.
Same thing with quitters. As soon as one person quits ban them from Ranked for the rest of the season and allow the other players to leave without penalty. It is ridiculous trying to fight a Stronghold game or CTF game 1 or more players down. Because the time to kill is so long and there’s so much cover and movement mechanics, everything revolves around team shooting, and one player leaving is enough to collapse any advantage.
Oh and DON’T START A MATCH IF ALL 8 PLAYERS ARE NOT THERE WHEN THE INTRO STARTS. Just send everyone back to the lobby and permaban the guy who quit.
Halo Infinite is a F2P game. If 343 does not crack down on this sort of griefing behavior then this game’s ranked mode is dead on arrival. Griefers can constantly make new steam accounts since it’s free. 343 has to be tough or multiplayer will be overwhelmed by trolls.
I do agree with the fact that ranked is suffering due to the leavers and the light penalties . I don’t think you should ban anyone for a whole season unless they are consistently leaving games, Perma banning for one leave would just drive people away from the game, I do agree with the idea of having bigger penalties for leaving like every other competitive game. Such as ban timer like 10 min and then build from there. and good behavior for not leaving for a certain amount of games should reset the timer on the leaving ban and the amount to reset would depend on the number of games left in a row.
Yeah, repeatedly leaving should result in longer bans, but leaving once should be a warning at most. Sometimes stuff happens irl that’s unexpected and you have to leave, not saying that’s why everyone quits a match, but for some people it happens, and a season ban for something out of your control is just unfair.
I’ve said it before and I say it again.
Don’t prevent people from playing.
Instead, if you’d qualify for a ban for any reason, just match them together in their own separate player pool.
With some restrictions.
No achievements can unlock, no challenges progressed, no match history recorded, no stats recorded, no ranks gained, the screen has a water mark showing that the player is playing in a “time out pool” so any clip the record has it present to show everyone if they wish to share it.
A couple of clean matches required and then they can get back to the normal player pool.
Preventing from playing just means they go do something else for a while. Forcing a specific amount of games isn’t something they can skip.
The problem with this is that a lot of people are experiencing crashing, so they would start dishing out bans to a lot of people who are having problems BECAUSE of 343, which is out of there control. If they can fix whatever is causing crashing for these people then yes I would support better bans in RANKED ONLY.
I don’t agree with it either, but the faster the game ends the more exp you get… It’s a lot easier to make your team lose then win and in ranked there’s a better chance the other team is trying to win so even better.
I agree progression and things to earn are scarce in the game but i don’t it should come to a point to where you have to sacrifice playing the game just to progress in the battle pass.
Quit bans ruined Halo by encouraging AFKing.
To not be banned for AFKing all you need to do is get one kill or assist.
Or cap one objective.
On the other hand I’ve had better matches when my teammates get replaced by bots or they go AFK. A lot of the time the teammates I get are 100% potato. So if they stop playing it’s more help to me and the rest of the team.
TBH is you want to succeed in ranked you should get into a clan or play with a full team. Solo ranked is a huge waste of time.
I have to disagree first off let me ask why ban? I mean i get it your upset people quit but pushing for a system that was introduced in halo 4 and hasnt worked or done a thing to correct people quitting unfortanetly isnt the answer. All that does is say hey heres a timeout if you do it agian you get a longer timeout slap on the wrist. Reason quit bans dont work is you alwayuh s have someone that quits from disconnects to people going to rl to do errends ect to people that feel there team mates areant skilled enough or costing them ty he match. Point is there will always be a quitter. So why not replace it with somethinv that benifits all players for example if a player quits the match should be canceld and both teams returned to the lobby with no change in stats and no win or loss given
Permabans? 10 second AFK timer? These are terrible and extremely restricting ideas that do not take into account that the player exists in the real world.
We can all agree that quitters can hurt the experience but I don’t believe in permanently banning players just for quitting a match. Forcing them take a break by giving them a 30-60 min matchmaking cooldown so they can’t immediately just go into a different lobby, have the knowledge that they could have played 2 or more games during that cooldown and still receive some punishment is a better solution.
As for the 10 second afk timer, have you ever had to use the restroom, or been thirsty and decided to get a drink? Make that a 60 second timer and having it only apply to the start of the match and then I can get behind this.
The MMR refunds a decent idea but it needs to be done in a way where it cannot be abused to nullify the outcome of a match so it should only apply within the first minute because if somebody does quit, they usually aren’t doing it because they were playing well and that they were on the winning team
Does that mean if I’m losing a match I can just quit and not be penalized instead of losing and being penalized? If so that is asking to be abused.
OR does it mean that if I keep playing ranked matches and playing against teams that have quitters, my progress up the rank ladder is slowed or even halted in extreme cases, through no fault of my own?
Permaban is a pretty extreme punishment. I agree quitting games is excessive right now. (keep in mind we’re still in beta). There definitely needs to be some system in place.
They can’t permaban because the game crashes so much. But I do agree, it would be common sense to not start a match if not 8 players are in the game. A feature they copy pasted from the MCC, which has 7k players left.
Nah, just let them loose progression on the Battlepass
Have a challenge that if you have 0 kills and under x amount of steps…you get -2000 EXP
People have lives and sometimes have to leave mid game or late game, so they dont get any penalty.
But those that guit almost as soon as the game starts or are afk, should be punished with negative EXP.
But at the same time, dont blame them for leaving or going AFK…its the stupid challenge system we have now.
Imagine if you only have challenges for CTF only and the game puts you in a Slayer match that you get pretty much 0 EXP for doing. I know we get 50 exp, but its pretty much 0. No one wanna play and get 0 rewards for it.
