Start of Winter Contingency: Active Camo (Jackal?)

About a week ago I started practicing Winter Contingency (over and over) and bypassed the part where Noble Team searches for beacon and noticed a figure in active camo running towards the path where the ostriches first appear.

I took a few shots at it with the pistol and it stopped and lit-up consistent with hitting a Covenant in active camo. I haven’t been able to take it down fully (yet.) It appears to be a Jackal.

I tried searching the forum for more information but haven’t come across anything yet. I’m sure someone knows about this…is it a form of Easter Egg?

On one occasion I had it almost taken down, one of the Noble Team yelled “hostile!”

All of this takes place before moving on to the second location in Winter Contingecy at the beginning of play (Legendary level.)

Curious…
FNG (obviously)

It’s an invisible Elite, if you kill him he drops a data pad.

It is a spec ops elite, if you take it down it drops a datapad, I took it down by double sprint to it, take shields with magnum then pump it full of ar amo.

That was an incredibly fast reply!

Thanks for the info…

I was 30 seconds late…

It’s all good. You gave more info than I did anywho.

I wasn’t kidding when I signed my initial post as “FNG” so bear with me …

I sprint out of the Falcon but only as far as one or two terraces toward the path and stop, otherwise the Elite (thanks for identifying it for me,) gets too far away, I’m probably shooting at 75m or more with the magnum.

Don’t know how to “double sprint…” but I’m tagging him pretty good (3 to 4 times) from where I am.

I’m sorry but this is -UNFREAKINGBELIEVEABLE- (see what i did there)

Yeah it’s an Elite For people who like to Read the Datapads in reach…Always a bit of Fun on the start of Legendary.

Get out of Falcon, sprint and jump over the terraces(when you hit a decent amount of hight, sprint jump it) then walk, sprint recharges, sprint again then take shields with magnum and switch to ar and kill the elite.

I’ve read there’s an achievement for reading all the Datapads but have’nt quite figured out what to look for and where.

Got a good piece of him last night but had to reload the Magnum and he got away…

Give me a Magnum and a DMR and I’ll be just fine.

Never reload the magnum, after one magnum clip just keep moving towards him with your ar ready. (This is just the way I did it, so feel free to change it around)

@QT: Thanks for the specifics…makes sense. I’ll be taking a break in a couple hours and going to give it a try…

Good Luck! XboxLive gives out really stupid names when you make your account…mine is an example.
