This, vehicles strived in open areas, but the inclusion of the DMR as a starter weapon meant that the amount of openness on maps became limited, thus making vehicle use to be pointless, plus their terrible endurance, overload of power weapons and plasma pistols and plasma grenades being starter weapons.

Not to mention that the Gunner is affected by Bloom. The Chain Gun is so grossly inaccurate, it’s a complete joke.
The standard Hog is not worth crap in Halo 4.
Especially on Ragnarok. The lasers, rockets, binary rifles, sniper rifles, plasma pistols, plasma grenades, and mantis all combine to make the warthog a sitting duck.
It’s pretty useless on Ragnarok but it’s decent on plenty of other maps.
You actually need a smart driver now; instead of someone just aimlessly driving around the map.
If all other vehicles have been destroyed, it is pretty good.
Haven’t played BTB yet … but I can def see why the Plasma Pistol being included as a starting weapon could be a problem, especially considering how much faster the charged shot is now. Even more of a problem for Covenant vehicles, their weapons systems are disabled now as well as the capacity for movement.
The Hog itself is worth absolutely nothing, let alone the turret.

Because the maps are so confined and restricted, the warthog driver can only follow a very limited number of paths. Compare this with the openness of the gulch. This makes it easy to predict where the hog will go, allowing a player to prepare to destroy it.
Add in the abundance of power weapons, plasma pistol and plasma grenade starts, and gunner bloom and overheat and your hog is in a whole world of trouble.
I think the gun just needs to be more effective at range, and maybe a 20% damage boost. A Warthog with two people is less effective than most other one man vehicles in the game.
