Standard Edition of Halo 4 is Worthless

Well, why is 343i basically making the Standard Edition of Halo 4 practically worthless? It almost feels like the Limited Edition is the real version of the game with the Standard Edition being a cut down version rather than a baseline. Is this a sly excuse to sell a game for $100 instead of $60 or what?

I mean, so many features have been left out of the Standard Edition. Like the Specializations; do people now gain early advantages in games simply because they have more money?

Edit: Note that I will be buying the Limited Edition despite some disagreements I have with the direction the game is going in. So don’t assume I’m posting this because I’m stingy.

what specializations?

> what specializations?

Read the latest Halo Bulletin…

> what specializations?

The OP is talking to the six specializations confirmed for the Limited edition that can be used on release day.
343i will show what they are on E3.

they haven’t confirmed the speccifics on those yet. I would wait until e3 and see what these specializations mean.

Specializations have very little impact on gameplay. No player will be able to spawn with an asymmetrical advantage over other players NO MATTER WHAT weapons or specializations they use.

Seriously people DO SOME RESEARCH and stop assuming that specializations are game altering juggernaut items that dramatically change how your spartan performs -.-

It’s because they want to give fans who spend more money a reason to. I personaly would prefer to get an in game bonus than some useless crap.

I was gonna get the LE anyway i always get the legendary version but they could have given a little extra with the regular version.

Well you get 3 map packs which you were going to pay for anyway, 2 things unrelated to the actual game, and 2 skins and an emblem, specializations really doesn’t mean much. Regardless, is that really that much dlc not included with the norm?

That’s all we know about specializations.

However, that’s what we have been told. Words are much more different than experiencing them in game.

The only time we can conclude if they are trash or minor buffs that don’t ruin balance is until we see more (E3 anyone) and when we play the game.

Otherwise, you are right as they are described as not being asymmetrical advantages (like perks).

The AR is going to need a specialization to be more effective though (just kidding)

3 map packs are useless?

I’m gonna get the standerd because I want to earn them the normal way.
The standerd edition seems like the more obvious choice to me but its all opinion.
Its not leaving out any important details. Although it seems pretty good as you would get the DLC FREE

Who implied they did? Geez, calm down…

Now I will say a bunch of little things are looking unbalanced at the moment, which adds up to a big problem.

You aren’t getting them for free. Their cost is in that extra $40 somewhere.

343 is planning to release a trilogy and be very successful right? successful as in a game that is thriving online till halo 5 comes out. lying to the community about specializations is a really bad way to go. I trust 343 is telling the truth about the balance of halo 4 because they want halo 4 TO LIVE. if they are lying halo 4 would wind up in 8th place or worse like gears is.

We already know what 2 of the specializations do and they arent game changing in the least. Just like frankie said its just fine tuning a car to drive more to your tasts(Halo 4 specializations), not swapping out the whole engine and having unpredictable abilities(COD perks).

I wish there was a Legendary edition so I could get the Limited Edition.

Limited Edition is for collectors.
Legendary is for die hard fans.

Limited Edition should have only the canon stuff, the 90 min FUD film, plus a few bonuses and should be $20-30 increase.
Legendary should have the maps and mp stuff with all the stuff that Limited has and should be around $100.

Right now, I feel like there’s no point in getting Limited Edition because half the stuff doesn’t even appeal to me. I’ll take my chances with piratebay and kind posters who post the canon info…

The map packs are in game so I don’t think he was referring to those.

Frank O Connor did.

3 map packs would total to about 30 dollars
then you would get Forward Unto Dawn, weapon skins, armour, and these specializations for 10 dollars

You are assuming they actually matter when you and I both know absolutely nothing about them. For all we know, they may not even do anything to help us in a fight.

Wait until E3 about this. I doubt seriously after Frankie saying boosting messed up the 1-50 system would he allow LE buyers a big advantage over those that buy a normal edition.

And if he does let it happen, I’ll support your claim, and assist in requesting for a different set of.specs that doesn’t give a big advantage over others.
