Stacking Team Spawn Influencers questions/comments

The Overtime update included some new Customs game settings in the Respawn section, including these two:

> - Enable Stacking Team Spawn Influencers: Increases the chance of spawning with teammates - Spawning Mode: Choose between default spawn selection and random spawn selection

It seems like the Stacking Team Influencer has the potential to improve gameplay, but I haven’t heard anything about these since then. Did this fly under the radar of the community?
QUESTIONS

  • Is the Stacking Team Spawn Influencer setting currently turned on for any matchmaking playlists? - Has anyone tried this out and noticed if respawns are behaving better? - Anyone have more info about what’s happening with these new settings?

I’m pretty sure the “Stacking Team Spawn Influencer” setting has always been in effect in matchmaking. You’ll always spawn near teammates so long as the general area isn’t crowded (i.e. the other team isn’t bearing down on the location your teammates are at).

I don’t feel like this is in effect in normal matchmaking. I’m pretty sure it’s that you “should” always spawn away from the enemy, which is similar, but slightly different. The throwback playlists, however, seem to be lacking this because I often spawn right behind or in front of enemies. (It may be turned off in those playlists to make the gameplay more like the old games.)

Hmm, wasn’t this just an issue with forge maps? I feel like people were talking about it when forge came out but don’t remember ever seeing a patch for it. I could be completely mis-remembering though, never bothered to learn H5’s forge since there’s no “what if” factor of getting featured.

It could be a forge map issue, but I never noticed it in BTB (maybe because those maps are larger). But in the throwback playlists when playing Slayer or Oddball there was like a 50% chance of spawning directly in front of or behind an enemy. So it was a toss-up whether you’d get an instant kill, or be spawn killed for half of your spawns. On Highground I was sitting all the way down by the water with a sniper and had an enemy spawn in the water directly behind me.

Yeah, there was something really off about the spawns in the H3 Throwback playlist. Not sure what was happening there.

I’ve rarely spawned near teammates in any matchmaking… I’m hoping the new setting will work better.
