Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto was arguably the most badass UNSC Marine to grace the battlefield. If he had lived long enough to become a Spartan IV, he easily could’ve become the most badass Spartan IV of all time. What do you guys think?

That’s a good opinion. Let me ask this though:
- What makes him bad to the bone in your eyes? - Why would he make a good Spartan 4? - What happened to him? - Who is he?I just want to see what your answers are to validate your claim. He very well could be a bad to the bone Spartan 4 but alot of people that don’t know him would wonder why in your opinion would he make an awesome Spartan 4.

He was a UNSC Marine who served on Reach, and made it off along with the Pillar of Autumn, thus being among the forces stranded on the first Halo ring. When 343 Guilty Spark was searching for a reclaimer to help him retrieve the index, Mobuto was 343’s first choice before the Master Chief. This meant that Mobuto had to fight through hordes and hordes of Flood in the library. Surprisingly, he made it all the way through until he could see the Index, but ultimately was brutally killed. The fact that one lone marine armed with only a shotgun and a magnum, with no genetic augmentations, no Mjolnir armor, no special abilities other than sheer determination, nearly made it through the library is badass. 117 had to push himself to get through the library, and he’s a damn Spartan.
Mobuto’s determination to reach the index, his resolve against Flood hordes, and the fact that he made it that far with the bare minimum and no knowledge of the Flood is why I say that if he had lived, he would’ve been an absolutely badass Spartan. I just love his story.

The problem is that we don’t actually know how significant was the flood presence when Mobuto was in the Library.
Guilty Sparks mentions when he is with Chief that the flood is spreading quickly; that combined with the fact that Chief doesn’t notice large amounts of flood bodies all over the place leads me to believe that Mobuto had significantly less flood to deal with than Chief.
That said Mobuto still was one heck of a marine.

Where is the backstory on this guy. he truly seems like he’s badass according to the description you gave. We need a backstory on him. I would enjoy reading it.

He gets a little mention in “The Flood” book… but really not much else. Here’s the Halopedia article about him. Pretty much exactly what was listed above. I was kinda hoping “Fractures” would have had a little short story about him as a gift to the long time fans, but alas that did not happen.
I think he would be. He managed to impress Chief.

I want an actual story from 343 now on this guy. after you sent the link and recalling Halo CE, I think an actual novel about him might actually attract more readers. hey, 343… another book idea
He made it pretty far so why not?
Would probably increase his efficency in killing the Flood.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a Project ORION veteran, like Johnson and Forge. It would be a lot cooler if he was just a regular guy in an extraordinary circumstance.
