That’s not an armor its a weapon and armor coating
I don’t think so. The description for the armor tells us we can acquire by “Reaching SR152 before Halo Infinite releases”. If you’re trying to get to SR152, I’d recommend playing Firefight, because it gives the most amount of XP.

There’s still no confirmation either way as far as I’ve seen.
The closest is that when Bonnie Ross first mentioned the possibility of a ‘token’ of appreciation she did use the word ‘before’, however that was a very long time ago and there’s been plenty of opportunity for them to double down on it since which to my knowledge has not happened.
I can see it both ways:
- On the one hand: why would they want to risk diluting their core playerbase by giving people a reason to keep playing a 6+ year old game which they’re no longer supporting (and which could take up server resources otherwise given to Infinite?). The ‘reward’ has always been described in terms of a ‘token of appreciation for those who were most engaged in Halo 5’ - by Infinite’s release the average daily XP someone would have needed since 5’s launch is less than 23k (i.e. as little as 4 arena games or two Warzone games potentially - i.e. very little indeed). You might argue the reward would be cheapened by leaving it available after Infinite’s release. - On the other: 50m XP is still a pretty insanely large grind and most of us have had significant breaks from H5 over its lifespan and removing the ‘possibility’ for people to get the reward after may lead to people burning themselves out before Infinite’s release with unhealthy attempts to reach the end goal. By leaving the rewards attainable after Infinite’s release you may avoid that. Many people may enjoy Infinite so much that they just decide not to go back, - There’s also the ‘hybrid’ option whereby there’s a cut off, but it’s after Infinite’s release: e.g. end of 2021, 6 month anniversary, year Anniversary? Part of me thinks this may be worst of both worlds though as you’d still have people making unhealthy attempts to reach it by the target and reducing the Infinite population around launch.Personally I’d be entirely okay with them setting the release date as an end date for the promotion (but I will make it by then) but I also won’t mind if they leave it attainable indefinitely either. I think a cut off ‘hybrid’ option is the worst of both worlds.
I was under the belief that you could hit 152 after infinites release and still get the “appreciation” present, morseybaby.
But 343 will do what’s simplest, I’d guess.
Cut off the promotion on infinites launch. Not being critical about that either.
I’m already there, but I feel for people still grinding.
I don’t think 343 should reduce the amount of xp needed for 152, but hopefully they’ll bump up xp payouts.

I think you have to get SR152 before Infinite releases.
Well, 343 has been always been odd about their promotions. Let’s not forget that helioskrill was made out to be a earn before launch or else you wouldn’t receive it, but that wasn’t the case if you haven’t beaten the 4 halo campaigns on legendary yet you could still do it and earn the armor. Also a lot of the promotional items like the Astro emblem, halo controller visors, and the GameStop preorder bonuses were all obtainable through gameplay if one did not participate in the promotions.
I would hazard a guess that a lot of the infinite promotions might follow this model as well, but that’s all still up in the air until it’s confirmed.
I would imagine it will become quite hard (and lonely) to grind XP after Infinite’s launch. The population will (hopefully) all migrate over to the new game.
Plus, I would also expect a pre-Infinite lull in Halo 5 if Infinite does run a post E3 flight of some sort.

I can’t find a definitive answer. Still looking, but every post from a mod-dev I’ve seen so far doesn’t answer if it’s a timed reward.

There will plenty of other items for PC players to unlock without taking away the special reward for loyal players who played Halo 5 for thousands of hours. PC players don’t need a participation trophy, they can earn the hundreds of other unlocks available.

The whole point of this is it’s a token of appreciation for those who played the previous title. Currently fewer than 4000 players have it which is less than 1.2% of Halo 5 players on True Achievements (336k or about half the members of that site which is only 721k - i.e. a small fraction of the Xbox playerbase). We’re talking a tiny tiny tiny fraction of all players who will have it. It’s absolutely not a platform thing: it’s a legacy reward thing. While I appreciate PC gamers haven’t had the chance to play it on their preferred devices, the reward’s been known about since at least 2019 - part of me thinks even 2018?
Plus: if the reward is left available ad infinitum you’ll be able to play Halo 5 over cloud gaming soon enough if you really want to earn it.

Yeah that’s just Kenny the monitor (though he is awesome) and as he says: 343 haven’t confirmed either way yet (and that was 2 years ago).
Given that they haven’t been explicit I think there’s a good chance this will remain earnable beyond Infinite’s release (probably for as long as Halo 5’s servers remain up), but in reality, once Infinite releases: is anyone apart from those who got close, but just missed it really going to make a concerted effort to get it?
I don’t really have strong feelings either way and I support whatever decision is made. If it truly was going to be time limited I’d have expected more clarification of that already, but on the other hand: there’s been so much time since it was originally announced I’m not sure anyone can really claim it’s snuck up on them
I def didn’t check all the threads, but yeah by now if there was an "official"comment it would be generally known by now.

Not rumors, the reward as already been revealed in the Inside Infinite of December 2020.
It’s the Watchdog armor and weapon coating. (So yeah no armor)
