Sprinting ruins the game

It does b/c you know why?

There will never be small maps, if there was no sprinting there would have been a remake of Guardian from Halo 3 since it connects to the forerunners.

You ruin the game

How so?

come on people, these threads/complaints are starting to get unbelievably pathetic

Lets hope they patch it so you can turn sprinting off in customs.

Increases default pace of the game - better than the moon boots you had on in H3

Yes but, In small maps games can be completed faster, only if they shut off sprinting only in small maps and turn on sprinting only in large maps.

Are you serious? Haven and Abandon aren’t small maps?

I would have no problem with sprint. But having to play on maps the size of a small town in 4v4 is no excuse. Sprint can work just fine on smaller maps.

You can always make a map bigger. I know, its not the exact same pixel for pixel, but you CAN make a map bigger while keeping it almost the same. Sprint is not whats keeping your favorite maps out of this game. And, with getting around maps quicker, the basic model of “small map” has changed, meaning small map style combat occurs on what would in the halo 3 days be medium sized maps.

They are pretty large for the use of vehicle, what I am saying is they should have a small map not ment for vehicles.

Medium size at best. Encounters are either very spread apart(Haven), or focused on a single few chokepoints(Abandon). Every map in this game can hardly support 4v4. Haven is the best, but any less than 8 players is a nightmare.

there are no small maps in Halo 4

Sprint does actually ruin the game but not exactly for this reason

I’m not a fan of sprint. It is something I can live with though.

This notion that it increases the pace of the game is false; since maps are made bigger to compensate for sprint the pace of the game isn’t increased what so ever. On top of that, the larger maps and ability to avoid or escape gunfights much easier through sprinting results in often indecisive gunfights that slow the game down even more.

I can live with sprint, but we are missing out on the best small maps for 4v4 or 5v5 that could have been remakes for Halo 4.

Black Out
Guardian
Reflection
and others you can name

Sprint does hurt gameplay. There is not reason as to why they should not just up default movement speed (AND ACCELERATION) instead.
Being able to strafe sideways fast while landing some shots or grenades at choice locations was one of the things that made gameplay in H1-3 so unique and intense.

Dude, the only good thing about Guardian is its aesthetics. It’s such a pretty and good to look at map , but that doesn’t change that horrible, horrible map from a gameplay perspective. It’s asymmetrical, so it already doesn’t work for balanced 1v1s or 2v2s. It’s too small for even 4v4s and can allow for enemies to spawn almost next to each other or even behind each other. It has some nice trick jumps, but that’s really it.

Sprinting would make it worse only because it’s too small for even Halo 3.

You can remake the maps and still have sprint.

A world with sprint is better than a world without.

If you’re shooting the enemy then they’re not sprinting. If you’re using a high powered weapon and they got away, you missed and it wasn’t sprint.

Dude. This logic. wat.

So you’re saying that first of all, H4 sprint breaks small maps (which it doesn’t necessarily), then that because Guardian is “connected” to the forerunners (even though I’m sure dozens of other maps have been “connected” to the forerunners), it would have been dev-made by 343 with Valhalla, then saying that because Guardian was not dev-made and put in the game from launch, that the game in ruined?

Wow.

Sometimes I agree with you. This is one of those times. Sprint is not broken in H4.

What evidence do you have that sprint was the sole factor in the decision for these not to be remade? Because I see sprint being one of the last things to prevent remakes. I can list a dozen or so if you are having trouble thinking of other reasons these may not have been remade. And what evidence do you have that they will not come in a map pack?
