Its too powerful. Enough said. Its a completely uncounter-able mechanic that the second I see someone on my radar they are dead because I can just sprint at them until i’m in sword range and kill them. It’s too easy to do, and too hard to stop, it doesn’t belong in the “competitve esport” that they’re trying to create.
-Put a delay between the time you stop sprinting and when you can lunge/melee with the sword out.
-Decrease the sword lunge length
Those are two suggestions for fix off the top of my head. Might take more thought than that, but it needs to be looked at
I disagree.
About 50% of the time I sprint towards someone with the sword they tear me me up. Usually because they are skilled with the BR. You must be playing against bad people if you can do it that easily.

No offense, but you must also be using the sword too much in situations where you’re not ensured to have the kill if you die so often. It’s not because you got the sword that you must use it at any cost, be sure to make your opponent come in a CQC situation before changing to sword ; )
And OT, yes, I have never really appreciated this combo, since Reach.
I’m in Onyx 2-3, and I play against semi pro and above pretty often so I don’t think it’s a case of bad people. There are very few areas open enough on these maps that you can’t sprint around a corner and kill someone before they can even get 4 shots out of their BR.
It isn’t much of a problem in my experience. I only use it when I am close and not in lines of sights (round a corner) etc. If I run at people I get shredded, especially with the BR starts.
Idk, it’s pretty easy to sidestep a sword lunge with the thruster. Granted it’s a one trick pony against a sword opponent due to cooldown, but more often than not I’ve been able to pull it off if they don’t get the jump on me.
Half the time I have the sword in in lunge distance of someone and it doesnt go through with me pushing the button, I see them possibly fixing that but nothing else.
That my friend is why its called a power weapon. Honestly Halo 5’s swords come no where close to Halo 2’s sword, which had infinite ammo, ridiculous lunge and could be drawn and lunging basically instantly.
