Sprint solution thread for 343's viewing pleasure!

Lets face it, sprint is here to stay. Think all the energy that is being wasted on bashing sprint needs to be channels into making it work. Just wanted to start a forum for suggestions on how to make sprint work in halo 5.

Best solution I can come up with is remove shield delay and implement a more severe penalty for taking damage while sprinting. If shot your sprint doesn’t cancel you just slow to almost regular speed for a second or two. Pretty much like a stumble. Just need a way to slow down a defensive runner. This way the great reversals of halo can return. Standing and fighting isn’t always the best solution but it needs to be a more go to solution than running away.

It’s already been dealt with in a way that I think works by canceling the sprint when shot.

Sprint indeed has a counter.

If you allow your opponent to reach terminal velocity then that really is on you, and possibly on your team mates as well. Shoot them, they stop.

Two facts are clear: Sprint is staying. And should be used both ofensively and defensively, just as it is in so many other games.

Kill times are very quick and it looks like it’s staying this way so that reversalls and comebacks are possible.

The way they have it is awesome.

They need to tie the small health bar to sprint. Make sprinting more risky.

None of that will fix the real problem, the fix is to eliminate sprint, and raise the bps to 125 percent. Because the real problem is map size marginalizing the use of grenades and melee. Marginalizing Sprint won’t fix the maps.

Seeing how maps are tailored for sprint

Im really confused ive shot a lot of players right when they start sprinting and ive never stopped or stunned anyone while they build up to max speed. Ive never been stalled up myself. If that’s the case then that is perfect but im not seeing it. Can someone elaborate?

Sprint is fine the way it is. Seriously half of the suggestions I hear want sprint to be a suicide button.

Sprint is a suicide button, what else would you call running through the map with guns down.

Sprint isn’t fine. Sprinting away should be more risky than staying and fighting. As ive seen it, its much more beneficial to run. That doesn’t promote good gameplay. People want sprint to be a suicide button because standing and fighting and making the best of a bad situation is what was so fun about halo. Should be more of a positioning tool than a defensive tool.

Its not a suicide button, after 100 matches, 90% of the time ive seen when someone runs they survive.

Actually I think it was the other way around. but it really doesn’t matter wether it was the cause or effect. map size has dramatically changed the way halo is played, and shortened the games lifespan because of it. Having a mix of large and tiny maps helped keep the game fresh without changing the mechanics of the game. Look at all the historically favorite maps. Lock out, guardian, ivory towers, all small. Blood gulch included vehicles, and the size encouraged there use. Now the large maps have no vehicles, it’s just an advanced form of duck hunt.

Well 90 percent of the time I try it I die. So evidently the people shooting at me are better shots then you. Lol

I made a post about this suggesting that the shield/sprint mechanic gets flipped. As soon as you have less than 100% shields you can’t sprint until they’ve recharged. Would help with map control, and with the sword being op. Also makes more sense for the shields to be a priority over running faster

Sprint is perfect in this game imo. Shields not regenerating when sprinting is genius.

That’s exactly what he’s trying to say. If Sprint was to be removed, the bpms would have to be raised and/or the maps would have to be shrunk.

Do you die by the first person who engaged you or by one for his teammates finishing you off? Because the prob isn’t a runner eventually dying for me. Its just irritating when doesn’t matter how accurate I am they just run and let one of my other teammates get the kill.

This sounds great to me! Sprint needs to be a map positioning tool not a combat defensive tool.

Main thing people hate about sprint is it’s use in combat. Just implement something that takes it out of combat! Makes perfect sense that a Spartan couldn’t do something as energy consuming as sprint when he needs all the suits energy for shield. Make it where if you sprint when not at full shield, your sprint will have to use shield energy, and when your shield energy is gone you can’t sprint anymore! Makes perfect sense
