Sprint should be removed from Halo.

343 has made the guns easier to use, added sprint, and has lag issues with their servers. I feel like I am playing COD now because connection determines a gunfight over skill. You even get shot around walls like COD. Really anyone can get a perfect kill with good connection when the bullet magnetism and aim is this easy.

I remember Halo back when it was actually hard to get kills and required skill. Just compare the actual Halo CE pistol to the REQ version and it’s quite sad how the easy gunplay has become. I think they made the guns easier to use because of sprint making a target faster and harder to hit. So really it seems like all the problems with 343’s Halo - besides the laggy servers - are due to sprint. Halo was much better without sprint and I think they should remove it. Let’s take the COD out of Halo and make Halo #1 on xbox live again!

Your typical sprint bro.

No I just generally don’t care about sprint. If it gets removed, whatever, not like I actually use it in arena that much. If it stays, then the same attitude applies to how I feel about it getting removed, which is ‘meh’

Says the guy with almost no playtime in H5. No played arena games, SR19, only warzone games. No campaign.

It’s not the individual kills that takes skill, it’s the whole execution package. Sure any new player can get a few kills, but they can’t get into the 20s with less than a few death unless they’re getting better.

Sprint is not an issue IMO, it enhanches the gameplay and ultimatly the flow of the game.

And COD never got to Halo. And Halo never got to COD. Games evolve and so does game development. Don’t like it? Don’t play it!

Just remove the panic button.
I mean spartan charge…

And I’ll be fine.

110 gamerscore in Halo? Please tell me how much experience you have with Halo.

That said, sprint doesn’t seem to sound like the issue here. Also the weapons are easier to use? Are you sure about that? I remember Halo CE the pistol was extremely easy to use. Then Halo 2 had dual wielding needlers…and Halo 3 continued dual wielding… which made some weapons much easier to get kills with.

“sprint making a target faster and harder to hit.” Yet somehow Halo is less skilled because of that? And can you actually back up there is more bullet.

And finally. Halo isn’t number 1 for a variety of reasons.
A. Halo was number one because it was the first FPS game that did well on console. It had a monopoly, so it gained a following fast.
B. By the time competition was created, they had to gain a following.
C. Because of the inherent lack of competition, you cannot definitively link The original Halo games gameplay to why it was number 1.
D. Most games above Halo are cross platform. Larger fanbbase leads to more word of mouth leads to more sales.
E. Word of mouth. If you guys keep saying Halo is dead, older fans won’t buy it.

There’s another post about this, must you make a separate thread?
Alsodo you know how large the MP maps are? No sprint is just stupidity. I swear Halo 6 (when it comes out) should have a classic playlist so people could just shut up about small simple things that shouldn’t matter.

Except that it clearly does matter
adding sprint changed the game at its core
it changes the fundamentals of the game and judging from how halo games with sprint (reach -5) have faired there are quite literally millions of people who don’t like the changes halo has undergone

If we were to believe 343 that H5 is the best selling halo of all time and has the best player retention since H3 (pro tip these are both lies) then I have one question
Where the hell is everyone?

Heard there was an article about it, I looked up Halo 3’s sell number when it was released, it had way more people but it, and stay active upon it. Now maybe I’m wrong, but maybe Halo 5 doesn’t look like it has a lot due to SERVER system? I can’t be too sure.

Also, sprint in Reach was fine, it was limited sprint and easily could still hit someone even with an sniper.

The issues with halo 5 are not limited to sprint
and I don’t want to give you the impression (and unfortunately my previous post does ) that I believe sprint is the only reason for halos decline
its not
there are many, many factors that are involved in the decline of halo
everythinf from sprint to changes in art design and story to server issues as you pointed out to lack of content etc etc etc

the he servers are indeed problematic in H5, you need look no further that the 300 plus page mega thread outlining the issues people from the UK and Australia have had with the game servers

That’s why I say just stick with the old host games with the search perspective to best connection, I do it all the time in Reach and it never failed me.

Host advantage over p2p servers caused havoc back in the h3 days
in theory dedicated servers are the best method to connect players
I don’t know why there are so much trouble with the H5 servers
maybe someone else can offer a better explaination

Well I forum in the Bungie destiny forum, I’ve seen genius engineers of the internet give severely intelligent replies to how to get better stuff for cheaper, or how to make an server better without changing much of any equipment. I could try and find a link to the person but I’ll probably be in trouble for that, lol

Sprint has been in halo for a total of three games now reach four and five

if it was a matter of merely adapting as you suggest, players would have done so in the past six years of sprint halo

They should have adapted. Players had the time from halo reach to now to say if they wanted it gone. They can’t complain about it 2-3 halo games later when the community has already decided to stop playing and move on, or get used to sprint.

I hate sprint too. If you play the classic more successful Halo’s, you would know that this game has changed to the point where 343 should have just changed the name. Sprint, auto aim, hit-scan, and clamber make this game a completely different experience. I wish 343 would just go back to the classic Halo mechanics.

You completely missed what I said

if it were a simple matter of adaptation players would have done it by now
if you honestly believe that sprint doesn’t fundamentally changes aspects the game which are beyond the control of the player (ie not able to adapt to), then I’m not sure if we can progress any further past this point

Halo is not halo anamore
