Halo 4 has made the sprint ability a default function. Spartan IVs supposedly are wearing a lightweight MJOLNIR variant too. Their armor, being more flexible in limb movement makes this an understandable change to canon.
The armor ability for Sprint was a gadget created to loosen the armor of a Spartan to give better movement. Wouldn’t it make sense if the Chief still used the AA variant in campaign? He never sprinted in any other game, after all. SIIIs in Reach also needed the AA.
The only reason why it wouldn’t be this way I presume is the Chief’s new armor. What do you guys think?
SII’s sprint in the books. In the books the spartans rarely found problems relating to their suits. Usually it was something like fitting in tight spaces or in seats. With chiefs new look I can’t really see a reason for loosening the armor, there aren’t any big metal plates near the hips or knees that look like they could hinder movement.
> Obviously it’s default ability in MP, so it makes sense to have MC sprint in the Campaign as well.

> Don’t say “It breaks canon!” because MC in Halo 2 does some sort of weird kind of sprint when escaping Regrets temple after killing him…

> Sprint is no longer an AA either. It’s just another “natural” ability similar to the ideas of dual wielding and boarding enemy vehicles.

Understandably, but why take the AA approach to it in Reach, then?
It makes sense cannon wise that the chief should be able to sprint in the campaign after all in the fall of reach the fastest spartanII’s could sprint at 60km/h so it wouldn’t have anything to do with them being a different generation of spartans

Look at the difference between the Mk. V’s and Mk. VI’s. One is older and has more metal plates in areas that could understandably hinder movement.

Not to mention a part where Kelly sprints at like 60 Mph or kph… so they can definitely sprint

It’s mostly a game design choice for Reach. Kat created the AA plug as a hack to override safety limitations within the suit but Spartans were able to Sprint before without this plug.
So it makes more sense that Spartans can sprint without it and that’s what 343 is doing with Halo 4.
