I did a little study of the Kill/Death ratios and BRP’s of Sprint vs Anti-Sprint players. I went to two extensive threads discussing whether or not Sprint should be implemented in Halo 4. I recorded stats of 50 unique, random players on each side of the argument. Here are the results.
YES For Sprint
Average K/D Ratio- 1.18
Average BPR- 67
NO For Sprint
Average K/D Ratio-1.48
Average BPR-76
Obviously this does not encompass the ENTIRE Halo fanbase, but I think 100 unique, random players is a decent sample size for something like this. I can assure you this was completely random, and no numbers were hand picked or left out. First 50 on each side were recorded. All results based on these forums.
While that’s a good representation of Waypoint’s skillbase, the problem really becomes that not everyone who likes or dislikes sprint posts here. Also, this is where the more obsessive/tryhard gamers come to complain. Of course the sprint haters will have the higher K/D
Now what I’d really like to see is some data on other Halo communities factored in.
The main reason for that IMO is that the players that want Sprint are the guys charging into fights, and sharing Melee-deaths with players.
Everyone who takes the game remotely competitively knows rushing for Melee attacks is a BAD thing to do, all it does is put you in danger of either trading a double melee, or being left 1-shot and getting cleaned up. It literally KILLS you to rush in for Melee attacks.
Sprint supports Melee Rushes, and therefore supports unskilled play.
Obviously the better players are against sprint. Could have told you that without looking up stats. Just like how the better player prefer TU over vanilla. In my experience this is because the better player simply understand the game better and knows what works and what doesn’t. Gonna get flamed for this but w/e
The point is this…People against sprint usually have much better arguments as to why it is not good for gameplay. In general, people who are better at Halo do not like it, because they understand it totally breaks gameplay.
Now, I am NOT saying that EVERYONE who wants Sprint is a bad player. There were a few people on the Sprint side that had 2 and 3 kd ratios and 100 BPR.
I know Sprint is going to be in. But I am also sure that there will be custom options to turn it off and there will be playlists that will not have it. But all in all, people against Sprint are better players, which shows that they have a better understanding of game mechanics. I am not trying to attack anyone and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This is just how I see it.

Wrong. It makes people able to run away from their mistakes. The “melee rushers” will there be few of in Halo 4 I recon. I make that assumption based on fact that I do not have, I reckon that the shield will be hit through once more. I reckon so because I believe that 343i aren’t dumb.

Bleed through will reduce some of the bs sprint caused in CQC combat but getting knocked out of sprint when shot would be much better and more balanced.

Yeah yeah I’ve read your post about that but it doesn’t help if you have to reload now does it?
I’d say you shouldn’t be able to sprint unless you’re full shield. No… I’d say it shouldn’t be in there in the first place. It just makes the map larger and (I honestly don’t know what to say)… but let me put it like this, Guardian with sprint?? -Yoink- no…

Being able to run away from your mistakes is ALSO unskilled. It means you can screw up, and NOT be punished in any way for it.
If you screw up, you should die, that’s just the way Halo works, just like how in a Fighter, when you screw up, you get Combo’d, or in an RTS when you screw up you lose a number of your units.

Not sure what you mean with needing to reload. If you get sprinted at while youre reloading than the other player chose the right time to attack.
Agreed on the map ppint though, thats why I would prefer a slower but longer burning sprint.

I never said I was for sprint. I am 110% against sprint.

You said in your own thread that shooting at a player should prevent him from using it. That was your solution to the sprint problem. However it doesn’t solve anything because players still have to reload.
