Sprint Pickup

I’ve been seeing a handful of people voicing their concerns about sprint being fairly useless. I would like to propose a simple and fair solution that doesn’t compromise the balance between sprinting and walking.

Add a piece of equipment that you can pick up that boosts sprint speed temporarily when used.

There already is a balance between sprinting and walking. its a 10% increase in speed that puts you on the radar.

I like it pretty much how it is.

I would prefer it to be a little faster… And maybe drop out of you get shot.

I like it as a gateway to slide and slightly longer jumps.

It could also be balanced by making lock on weapons less accurate vs a sprinting target (which maybe they are already).

I agree, but then why are there people complaining that sprint is useless? I personally like how weak sprint is when you spawn in, but I think it could be interesting/fun to have a temporary speed boost power-up that doesn’t give you an advantage in a firefight since it only increases speed while sprinting. One of the most frustrating things about the speed boost in Halo 4 is the way it gave you a massive speed boost at all times, even while shooting, giving you a sizable advantage in firefights. This removes that element, keeps the gunfights the same, and gives sprint more purpose than just enabling sliding.

I do not want base sprint speed to increased. That would upset the balance between sprint and walking as it is currently, which I think is in a good spot. Sprinting should be worse than walking by default. But I think there’s a lot of potential to make sprint have more purpose than it just being a gateway to slide.

This thread might get locked because its mentioning sprint, and that’s a very touchy subject for certain moderators.

But I would personally prefer the base movement to be increased to the sprinting speed so that way we can fight at max speed at all times. But I understand that people like the Sprint animation itself.

Just to clarify I don’t want Halo playing slow, what I am saying is increase our speed to a sprinting level so that we wont slow down once we fire our weapons.

And just in case someone uses the “super soldier” argument again. We are super soldiers so it only makes since to be able to move at max speed while shooting, Same can be said for the removal of clamber for higher jumps. We as Super Soldiers should be able to fire our guns while climbing just like in older Halo games

If Sprint was a pickup we would have some ppl sprinting while others cannot.

If you slow the stream under options, you’ll see a thurst ability… just saying… Thruster Ability spotted in Halo Infinite?! - YouTube

Saw a test that sprint increases base run 9%. Just repeating what I saw but that’s fairly minimal.

Most likely as a pickup. I like the idea of being able to customize the effect and it being a pickup.

Sprint is perfectly balanced currently. It is a gateway into advanced movement techniques that comes with a cost of being on the radar. It just will take time getting used to it.
