Sprint + Melee Weapons = Easy Mode = Bad Design

This is clearly the case in Halo Reach. Since Bungie in their infinite wisdom decided to extended the kill time for every single non-power weapons while keeping the instant kill of the melee weapons + even slower walking speed, a guy that spawned with the -Yoink- -Yoink- rifle and pistol has almost zero chance against a sword wielder in CQB (also, thanks to more new mechanics, the ar guy’s melee won’t even break through the shield of the sword dude).

Solution: Faster player speed, slightly buffed Br/Ar/Pistol/Nr/Pr + bleed through melee.

Good suggestions. I’m for anything that will speed up play as well.

People have suggested ideas around this.
Such as taking more damage while sprinting or slowing down etc.

I personally think reach got it right with sword block.
Helped stop the melee sprinters, if you were skilled enough.

You’re over thinking it as if the whole multiplayer experience will be like this.

They also added Sword Block. Sword Block+Headshot.

Sword block was bad and should have never been introduced, but you’re right it did work in Reach because it was the only defense against a sprint/sword.
Hopefully Halo 4 will allow you to slow them down when you shoot them, which would make using the sword more strategic, if you can even call camping strategic.

Sword Block makes the sword way to easy to counter and it makes regular melee still over powered.

Too bad it was 90% reliant on your connection, right? Sword-block was the most inconsistent mechanic I’ve ever seen in a video-game.

It’d be nice if Sword Block was only possible if the Assailant had just exited Sprint. That way, not everyone would be punished for using a power weapon.
