So I have been wondering. I try not to hate or anything, but was it a good idea to add sprint, loadouts and armor abilities in halo?

I think the pressure to add “new” things to Halo was Microsoft´s idea who are the owners/boss of all the Halo fanchise and Bungie/343i
Sure why not
Yeah I like the abilities. Means I can Camo up and hide LOL.
They are better balanced now in Halo 4 than they were in Reach. I need new toys each new game.
I like them, myself - same way I like new vehicles and weapons.
Thing is, I can still play any of the previous Halo titles if I want to - I don’t buy a new game to play the exact same game I’ve already got, with a few graphical tweaks.
Funnily enough, a lot of the criticism levelled at the new additions making Halo 4 ‘not feel like Halo’ would imply that some people would prefer exactly that - Halo 2 or Halo 3 with just a fresh coat of paint on top. And yet, if that’s what we got with, say, Halo 5, I’m sure the very same people would be complaining just as loudly that Halo was ‘stagnating’ as a franchise, and needed to try something new…
i think they are terrible. they cause unbalnced, slow, noob friendly gameplay.
If there was no new weapons and abilities added…why even make a new game?
If you dislike Hal4 because of all the new features then by all means continue playing Halo3. Lots of people still play it or at least they did a few months ago.

i dont mind some changes. look at the CoD series, each game has some new features. (yes those small changes often get lots of hate, but millions of people continue buying each new game every 3 months, and overall it is still very similar)
but halo 3 to halo 4 is like mario kart to super smash brothers.
I like sprint, armor abilities, and loadouts in reach. However I don’t like the customizable or “Call of Duty” style loadouts in Halo 4. I just makes the game kinda tedious for me because I keep changing my loadouts.
No, they ruined Halo.
i think they did a good job of implementing these new features to compliment the original halo style
Sprint: it has a plus and a downside, the plus is that it creates movement on maps rather than having to be stuck in one spot where one team may have the advantage. it allows freedom to be able to run away or get that essential assassination. the downside is that if you sprint 100% of the time and dont stop or slow down to check corners, lob nades or check your surroundings then you’re going to get killed easily. all in all everyone has it, its not overpowered and certainly does not give an edge to one team or another its all based on how the player uses it.
Loadouts: i actually like the loadout system, it gives players variety at the game start, although a lot of ppl tend to nag on it for giving players the DMR and BS, which yes i can understand but if you’re good then you should have no prob in CQC situations against a DMR or BS. The one thing i thought was meh about the system was specializations, the way i thought it was going to be was, that specialization would give you a passive on top of your loadouts (yea overpowered to non SR-50s) which really would have changed halo, but its system now is almost a grind just to get weapon skins, hopefully they add more.
Armor Abilities: these are really debatable, first we have more than what 5? from reach, and they are more varied than before giving certain situations for each one. it adds that extra uniqueness to a player while they play almost 8/10 times you play against someone who keeps loadout swapping, they dont change their AA because they have one they feel more comfortable with. i know i had ProVis on every loadout until i sucked it up and started switching to thruster pack, now all my LO have TP. they did a better job than reach in this aspect, they are all mostly balanced (and dont say that AC is game breaking, Ive killed many with it on and its barely a game changer)and give a flare to the game which suits the style well
All in all that’s just my opinion, i know ill get flamed for agreeing with something 343i did but if you think really hard about different situations/scenarios/objectives/CQC/long range, then you can start to see how these things start to seem less stupid ideas and more of a blessing in terms of a fresh new experience that compliments an old game.
