Do you think that with everything else staying the same, infinite could work without sprint? I cant really put a finger on what makes halo 3 just a more enjoyable multiplayer experience but maybe its movement. Also if sprint just need to be in the game, what are your opinions on clamber and slide? To me I think clamber has the same problems and h4 and reach sprint where it locks you in an animation where you cant do anything. I prefer just crouch jumping as it is pretty much the same thing but without an animation. As for sliding, i think the best thing about it is being able to slide and turn so you can aim a direction you’re not traveling in semi sprint speed but without sprint this becomes redundant.
Sprint isn’t as annoying in Infinite - I don’t feel it’s necessary most of the time and doesn’t have the same annoying impact that it did in Halo 5.
Might just be me though.
There was never a need for sprint in Halo, now least of all given the small boost in speed it provides.
My guess is they had already implemented slide into Infinite before they wanted to get rid of sprint, and because of that they had to keep it as a gateway mechanic, so they did the next-best thing: Reduce its impact as far as possible.
Personally, I see no reason why slide could not be tied to top BMS instead. Not only would that streamline the mechanics and make the movement more fluid, it would also free one button on the controller; and Infinite’s button layout desparately needs that with how cluttered it is, now that they want us to drop weapons and grenades before we can pick up new ones.
Clamber can stay as it is as long as the maps are not designed around it: Every jumps needs to be doable with crouch-jumping first, then add clamber on top of that, and make it last longer to boot. Being locked into the animation should be the punishment for not making a jump, losing time, momentum and combat capabilities in the process.

Fo you think infinite would be better without it?
I don’t mind sprint actually. I feel like Infinite has a good balance of sprint and the regular movement speed. Sprint gives a slight boost to movement, but it’s not too much of a boost where the enemy team can make it to your base extremely quickly.
Infinite doesn’t need sprint and is better without it, except that they made some maps so large.
Clamber should go, to be honest. It literally is just an animation that resulted in maps being designed around it. I don’t agree that those same jumps should be accessed through crouch jumping. I would be ok with maybe one or two spots accessible with crouching, but it shouldn’t be a map design consideration. - just make the map’s navigation less about steps and more about ramps, so verticality can be achieved without clambering.

I totally agree, I never really play h4 or 5 so infinite was my first game with sprint as a base ability and I experience all the things people say against sprint. Also I just don’t get the benefits of it, getting places faster? but thats only because the maps are bigger, but thats only because there is sprint. Honestly I’ve just been not enjoying playing and 343 are going in a different direction from what I want in a halo game.
