Sprint in Halo 5

Well, this is an issue that has brought tension to the community so the b man dc has suggested that I do a poll on it, so here goes:

  1. Remove sprint completely

  2. Keep (default) sprint

  3. Return sprint as an AA

  4. Modify sprint in some way (please specify)

  5. Have sprint for certain playlists and custom games only

The information gathered from this poll will be useful for when discussing in the Halo 5 Community suggestion thread.

Wheres the option for sprint equipment similar to Halo 3?

After sprinting for so long, you can “run-out” of sprint and have to find another sprint on the map, you can pick up sprint off dead bodies, but not if the sprint has run out.

I don’t think people would mind it as much if it was not on all the maps allowing for small and quality map design, and have it work on maps it was designed for.
You also have to fight for control over it like a power weapon.

Just be rid of it. All Sprint does is ruin map design (Maps are purposely created with long-straight lines now to compensate for fast ONE WAY movement).

Without sprint, default movement speed can be faster, leading to better strafing. You’re a Spartan, you should ALWAYS feel fast, this is what Halo CE and Halo 2 accomplished. You didn’t need to ‘sprint’ because you were always running anyway.

A Thrust button instead of a Sprint button would be infinitely better for Halo’s gameplay.

Ha! yeah I say that just now, anyways, I did briefly think about sprint equipment but I wasn’t too sure how it would exactly work or differ to an AA, even if it was an AA with limited usage.

I seemed to remember a huge thread like that, (and it turns out that I did vote in the poll!). Anyways, I don’t mean to clutter up the forums but it must have been more to a different forum which i don’t often check. This however, is dedicated to halo 5 and sprint only. It will also be used specifically for the thread mentioned.

Again sorrys for recreating a thread that sorta exists, but hey, it gives people a second chance to vote if they’ve changed their minds or had time to think.

I’d say have a classic and infinity playlist, I know not all people like it, but I was playing some Halo 3 yesterday and I missed it

If sprint returns to as an AA, then it would have to be nerfed. Sprint should just stop working or really buckle when shot at. This slow down mechanic in Halo 4 isn’t enough.

I’ve had times in Reach where my Spartan’s speed would drastically reduce/buckle when shot at. Seems like they were testing in reach at the time, but it would give my thruster AA some compettition.

Firstly though, I don’t mind the return of equipment only.

If they were to bring back sprinting they should probably add a con or a de buff to a sprinting player to make all members of the community happy. These de buffs can be either,

-slower shield recharge time to sprinting player.

-players cannot sprint and pick up weapons.

-radar is disabled.

-shields decrease at a very slow pace during sprinting (maybe .05 per second)

These changes can prohibit player’s from sprinting long distances but allow a quicker form of on foot mobility.

Sprint should be kept, b/c it makes the game much more exciting. However, i hope there is a “Classic/Anniversary Playlist” where sprint is disabled.

I’d prefer that Sprint would stay, but it MUST be limited.

[/li]- Sprint must only be existent in Custom Games and Infinity Playlists. It will be ABSENT in Ranked/Classic Playlists

  • In addition to the return of De-Scope, Sprint would be MUCH more balanced if you would un-sprint when shot.

Sprint is for running to your teammates and traveling the map, NOT for cowering away from your opponent

Sprint like in Reach is bad. Sprint like in Halo 4 is alright.

So what if 343 industries made sprint function that if your shield are recharging or damaged you cannot sprint.
