one of the main arguemnets against sprint is that it makes base player speed slower and i just have to say that that is complete bull -Yoink-. yes the attrocious halo reach had slow speed and sprint but thats because you were a spartan 3 not a spartan 4. and 343i has already stated that you will move faster than reach. there for we will get both faster movement speed and sprint. the sprint however will most likely have either reduced speed or time anyway.
H3 speed plus sprint would be ridiculous. Try 120 movement speed with sprint on. Way too fast.
> H3 speed plus sprint would be ridiculous. Try 120 movement speed with sprint on. Way too fast.
^ Has a point. Until we get more footage of movement speed i have to say it’s currently looking a little slow to me and so at this point in time i still support ‘Sprint = slower movement speed’.
no, just make larger maps, look at ahlo 3 maps compared to reach maps, reach has tiney maps, remember zanzabar? that was 4 v 4 map right there
> H3 speed plus sprint would be ridiculous. Try 120 movement speed with sprint on. Way too fast.
thats becuase sprint gives an increase of about 50% of the speed you have there for sprinting at 120 is about 180% speed so yeah super fast, but if it was only an increase of 25% you would sprint at around 150% speed which is the speed of default reach sprint which isnt much of an increase at all compared to ay basemovement speed of 120% of reach.

I feel the opposite. I loved H3’s small tight maps and indoor bases, like the pitt, or the interior of standoff.

Your speculating even more than we are. Were speculating based on reach. your speculating based on pure guesses.
It might not be as horrible as its being made out to be, but for the time being its safer to assume so than not.
I still don’t think that Reach’s base movement speed is slower than that in Halo 3. I could be wrong, of course, since I haven’t properly experimented with the matter, but I did play both the Halo 3 and Reach campaigns through this week, and I didn’t notice a difference. And if there’s a difference in the multiplayer alone, then I never noticed it when I played it several months ago.
> Until we get more footage of movement speed
Isn’t going to tell us much.
The FoV has changed with every Halo game and with it people’s perceptions of how fast the players are actually moving, ignoring how fast the players ARE actually moving.
IIRC in Reach Spartans are only 3% slower than they were in CE, it’s that the FoV put them higher so it looks like they are going slower.

yes but my speculations are positive and good for gameplay both competitively and casualy which is the exact opposite of any speculation involving reach. in fact no matter what the subject is whether it is sprint, jet pack, bloom, melee or anything for that matter if you look at it in terms of reach you will surely find yourself feeling negativly towards said subject.

no it wouldn’t.
Halo would finally be a real arena shooter.
sprint ruins map mechanics, allows for sword/shotgun/hammer abuse, creates that awful double beatdown dilemma, allows bad people to run away, and just makes the game more complicated for no good reason. I never felt “slow” in H3; I never felt that I needed to sprint because my base speed was just fast enough. Sprint becomes superfluous when maps are made correctly by game designers as they were in H2/3 for the most part.
I think the sprint will be much different than in reach in that it will not make as big of a difference to your movement speed.
Let’s say your base movement speed is 100%
In Reach, the base movement speed was slow, and sprinting caused it to go up by a large amount.
Hopefully in Halo 4, with an already fast base movement speed, Sprinting will only increase your speed by about 10% (Try going into Halo 3 and testing the difference in speed from 100% - 110%, I don’t think it feels that big.)
If it is not such a drastic change from your base movement speed, I don’t think that sprint will be able to be abused to run away as much/easy, either, and will only be used to traverse the map slightly faster.
People need to stop assuming it’s going to be copy+pasted from Reach.
