I will begin by saying that this is not an anti-sprint thread. It is merely an attempt to highlight a point that is often mentioned, but even more often ignored.
Sprint does not make the game faster.
Halo 4’s maps, with the exception of the two Halo 3 remakes, are extremely large compared to maps from previous games. This is because sprint being added as a base player trait makes it necessary to scale map size to properly accommodate the feature. Yes, sprint makes you move at an increased speed - but a 125% movement speed coupled with a 125% scaling to map size ultimately leads to traversing the map taking just as long - if not longer, since sprint is finite - to cross maps.
The effect of sprint is largely placebo. In another thread, it was mentioned that you could likely add a “sprint” button that gave you a 2% speed boost along with a bunch of “fast” moving effects and players wouldn’t know the difference - there is likely a lot of truth to this. It doesn’t mean that those who perceive it as faster are “dumb” in any way - it is just the nature of placebo.
It does not. It is a mechanic for the ADD generation. The custom games may friends and I play in H2A are frantic at times. I adjusted to Halo 4 to the point I DID think sprint was needed. I had just gotten so adjusted to it. H2A brought me back and made me realize that their IS a place for a more traditional style of Halo.
343i, the Halo community will forever be divided. Don’t be delusional in thinking you can EVER change that.

I do hope we have more custom game option this time around though. Options for disabling some or all of the new abilities could NEVER hurt.
I personally think that it not speeding up gameplay only really applies in terms of upscale maps for small teams. BTB and Campaign it does have an effect.
In the smaller maps then, you have things like sliding, melee charge and thruster which are layered into sprint to help speed up gameplay by changing HOW you move in addition to just player speed

Yet, you commented on every single one of those threads.

Which obviously does not matter because I did not CREATE them.

I’m just saying that you’re part of the problem. All those sprint thread wouldn’t have existed if we all stuck to the same thread, so that not much attention is given to those threads.
One of the mods should’ve created an official thread for sprint by now.
