All you need to do to realise there is yet another huge backlash from the community about the return of sprint in a Halo game is cruise the forums for 30 seconds. Seriously the poll on Beyond Entertainments forums is 80% anti-sprint. I personally think if 343 can do it, then they should try disabling sprint, just for a day even. This would give community feedback on whether Halo 5, or the maps we can play on would indeed provide ‘better’ gameplay without sprint. I really think this should be a serious consideration, it is after all a beta and 343 is after community feed back. Thoughts everyone?
No no no. Quit beating a dead horse. Sprint is here to stay just adapt like everyone else. 90% of these people saying I’m not buying this game is blowing smoke up your -Yoink-. They will buy it complain about how sprint killed the game some more and continue to play the game. Go play classic if you don’t like it -Yoink-.

They did it in Reach. Bungie made a Classic playlist without abilities and increased movement speed. All 343 has to do is give us a playlist in Halo 5 without any special abilities and let it speak for itself.

I can play without sprint, if you actually read my post I simply think Halo plays better without it. They only took it off CoD and other games to attract players from those franchises.

You mean how we all continued to play Halo 4? Because I recall Halo 4 crashing hard only a handful of months after luanch. It was funny seeing inexperienced noobs like you running to the forums and complaining that no one was playing Halo 4 anymore.
Why should we give our feedback? It’s not like 343 is asking us for it. I always thought a beta was so they can get community feedback but I guess I was wrong. It’s not like they want to make money or anything.
You need to deal with the fact the we all have the right to give our own feedback. Seeing posts like yours makes it clear that most of us don’t want the things you want and all you can do is get defensive and cry about it.

Thankyou dude! You put it to words, honestly Halo is being kept alive by long time fans who put their trust into the game they love, but when 343 messed up with H4 it was obvious all the long time fans retreated and the game was a graveyard left to newer players.

Actually many Beta Tests are done simply to stress test and take diagnostics. Their main goals are likely going to be netcode stability and balancing is likely a very small priority to what they are testing.
But if you are so hell bent on having sprint out of Halo, how about you go play the Master Chief Collection, all your ultra stale BR dominant favorites packed into one game!
As for the rest of us, I’ll be looking forward to a new Halo game with some snazzy new stuff to showcase, just like everyone Halo before it.
I have played halo since ce was released you tards. I’m tired of the same multiplayer every time. It has to evolve. It pisses me off people assuming I’m a new adopter when I’ve played twice as long as most of the kids on this forum. I am a halo fan! I’ve read every halo book even so Don’t lecture me about how I’m “inexperienced”. I never complained just kept playing.

I’m sorry man, but that makes you a minority, but in the end you guys will win and 343 will hardly touch the balance but Halo 5 will then unfortunately end up like 4, unpopulated in 6 months and everyone will just play their 360 because MCC was another let down. Either that or just pick up another game, I myself can’t wait for another 3 years of playing Reach and complaining.
I’m hoping for a week long beta with No Sprint and BR starts just to show how much better the game will play, no more stale mates and sitting back the whole time. The game would need to be balanced all over again if we were going to do this, 343 would have to test multiple things like movement speed, jump height, gravity, thruster range, thruster cooldown, weapon kill times, shield recharge rate, and I’m sure numerous other things that I am missing. The biggest of the three would be movement speed, jump height in gravity as we would have to ensure our new max jump height was the same as it was when we sprint jumped. We won’t be able to jump as far of a distance anymore, just watch my video here if you want to see why its be able to jump across huge distances with sprint + jump + thruster. Specifically the two clips on Regret where I fly across the bottom of pink tower.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo4CsGEDtWw
I still feel confident most if not all jumps will still be takeable, at least the important ones so long as the game is balanced correctly. I’m not sure it is possible to scale down the maps at this stage of the game, but that would help balance things as well though I don’t see any reason why it will be a problem to play on them without sprint.
If you don’t like Sprint then play the Master Chief Collection. If you like your Combat Evolved then play Halo 5. I like sprint!

See this is why you and I don’t see eye to eye. Reach (to me) was an unholy abomination that was pure crap. That bungie created as a big F U in my opinion.

Each to their own I guess, but back to the roots of this post, I really think 343 should disable sprint for 24 hours, this would surely give an overwhelming amount of community feedback on it, personally I’m not anti-sprint (believe it or not) but the reality of it is that the majority of hardcore fans don’t want it and if 343 listened to their consumers then they would understand that all these CoD ripoffs are suffocating Halo (Halo 4 is my main example). I don’t see the harm in sprint being taken out for a day, especially in a beta designed for community feedback.

Did you play Reach after the patch? And in the MLG settings, it was better than Halo 3 in every aspect other than the crappy maps. I see you were only a 40 in MLG in Halo 3, so you can’t be that good. I still had a negative K/D on my old account when I was still a noob and managed a 36 in MLG . I personally loved Reach as I didn’t hate sprint until MLG was like, “no -Yoink- you no more sprint” and then it was 9850329875493284-02938754x better along with no bloom of course. Then all the arguments people were making started making sense and here I am 5 years later making those same damn arguments.

Well speaking for myself as a competitive player I probably would try a game of it if I didn’t like it I’d skip that day of the beta. When mcc was released I was awe struck at how slow it felt, this is when I decided sprint is needed in halo. The clamber feature is awesome in my opinion.
I’m going to stop quoting because it’s getting ridiculous, yes clamber is cool and is a nice feature to the game, thruster is also good and maybe if we got two thrusts to balance out a lack of sprint or a faster recharge of it then the game would still be as fast as it is now.

If you’re tired of the gameplay we love then why not you go play other games?

This is the only thing you’ve said that I agree with. However halo 4 was worse. I’m all for change, but there comes a point when the game is simply not functioning correctly anymore. We’ve reached that point. When you play the game alone you might as well face the fact that you are going to have a crazy hard time. There is no reason I should get a killtacular and still have 3 people chasing after me. But because I beat them and immediately they sprint back while chucking every grenade they have I’m screwed.
Halo 3 was the last good halo multiplayer game. The multiplayer was populated and relevant for years. When reach came out and added new abilities the population dropped quickly. Then Halo 4 tried it again. I have each of these games a fighting chance for much longer than I should have, but in they end they both sucked because of it. I quit halo 4 after just a few months. I tried to start playing it again 4-5 months later but found the playlists largely unpopulated. Why is it if change is so necessary and these changes are the way to do it that none of the games with these “new features” cannot sustain a large community? Everyone keeps saying they needed to change because they kept staying the same… Well at this point we’ve had as many halo games with abilities as we have without them and halo 1 shouldn’t count (was never online, and might is nonfunctional even now)
I’m just saying, the numbers speak for themselves. Halo 2 and 3 supported themselves for years even with other major FPS games being released (cod, gears) that were anything but flops. Why can’t these new games seem to do that if the new features are really what the game needs? All of these games have had serious potential. Potential that was ruined. You can argue that if you want, but the number of people currently occupying those games playlists prove my point.

And also how after halo 3 most halo player’s started playing cod, i guess cod must not have sprint or something or maybe it’s just well balanced, idk. And then the only people you have left are the old school halo fans, like me that are always checking into the forums.
Halo reach and Halo 4 were not perfect but it was going ok until everyone got called into duty and most of the old school players left.
I think halo 5 is going in the right direction but needs a little T.L.C.
I’m seeing more old players interested.
But I still think sprint needs another small nerf, so people can’t run away easy.
I think like a slower or no sprint when your shields are low.
