Spread Your Weapon Knowledge!

Hey all, a few months ago I made a post like this, and it ended up being pretty fun, and teaching a lot of the community some fun stuff they didn’t necessarily know. There have been 4 or 5 updates since then, so I figure it’s time for a new one!

Here’s the idea. Just post a feature about a weapon you’ve noticed, that isn’t necessarily explained anywhere in the game. I’ll give you guys two.

The Open Hand’s bullets will adjust their path slightly to move over cover, or shoot slightly around corners when it’s in smart link, while the two other bolt shots bullets will just take the most direct path towards their target.

Advanced sensor mod will keep you off radar if you’re not sprinting, even when using weapons that have speed boosts built in. Stacking speed boosts will make you show up on radar however.

Edit* Took away the now false claim about the H2 Beam Rifle.

I shoot me gun at da peple, I pull da triger and ma gun go pew pew.

I guess a serious one would be with the scattershot, you can ricochet the light bullets off the wall for behind cover kills.

When firing the Railgun, there is a small interval between when it fires and when it is fully charged. This short time flux could be used to make a slight adjustment to your aim or to bail on firing by switching your weapon quickly.

To add on that, all scatter shots gain slight tracking after bouncing off walls and floors, making it very useful if you fire at the floor or the wall when trying to kill someone.

And yes, I’m not just talking about the Didact’s Signet. All scattershots will so this slightly, Didacts Signet just has stronger tracking.

Didn’t they add lens flare for the H2 Beam in December?

The Nornfang is incapable of ricocheting and headshots.

The White Scar’s needles can actually supercombine.

The Rain of Oblivion has less RRR (Red Reticle Range)

The Halo 2 Beam Rifle Alpha overheats after about 4-5 shots.

The Echnida can lock while not in smartlink and can double zoom like a sniper

The Barbed Lance has a faster kill time then the Dying Star

The Talon of the Lost’s needles are the same from the Grunt Jockey, they just don’t do as much damage cause it’s a legendary boss

Jorge’s chain gun fires in bursts of 3.

Yes, turns out it was a bug and is no longer in game.

The halo 2 beam rifle has glare again. It was just a glitch. -_-

When going for long distance rocket kills, aim a little up because gravity will pull the rocket down.

While reloading your weapon, pay attention to the ammo counter at the top-right of your HUD. When it goes from red to blue, you can shorten the rest of the reload process with the following:

  • A short sprint (resets your shield recharge) - A thruster evade - A clamber - Throwing a grenade - A melee attack (not recommended under normal circumstances)This trick only works with magazine-fed weapons, including those where individual rounds are inserted by hand. Battery-based weapons will not gain any bonuses to reduce their cooldown.

Ah man, that’s super sad. That makes the two guns extremely similar again…

Im not sure if this counts, but it still astonishes me every time I use it. The blaze of glory is essentially a sniper disguised as a shotgun.

Not sure if it’s been discussed, but plasma caster charge shots actually track ever so slightly. I’ve noticed it a few times while aiming at a vehicle where I was off the mark but the charge shot tracked towards the vehicle.

Rockets tend to have a lag when you pull the trigger as you jump in the air.

DO NOT spam shoot with any weapon. Practice shooting at the perfect intervals for each weapon and you will shoot faster than normal (This mostly applies to DMR/BR/SNIPER) The shooting speed will only increase VERY slightly but not only will this give you patience to make sure you’re landing shots but this may also save you in a face off like landing your 5th magnum shot before your opponent. Goodluck

I find this feature let’s the caster dominate ghosts if you’re at mid-long range.

spamming the plasma caster without charging it is extremely effective on any knight targets, especially with the scourge of fire since it’s x2

Can someone tell me if you shoot the enemy’s weapon with the scattershot it doesn’t take damage?

Many many many many hours of work right here. Pretty basic, but it gets the general idea through.

That’s awesome. It needs one edit though. The SPNKR and H5 rockets do act differently though. SPNKR has a slightly larger blast radius, and it’s rocket travels at a constant velocity. The H5 rocket accelerates as it travels before reaching a maximum velocity.
