There’s a faster method using Ep6 Ch5 that I’ve discovered, though it’s a bit complicated to explain without a video, so bare with me (no capture card.)
First, use Mobility and Dexterity with your headshot weapon of choice (I use BR), and play on Easy.
At the start, sidestep or leap over the covie gunrack and sprint straight forward. As you clear the rock face on the right, turn slightly to the right, and you’ll see an ammo crate in front of you. Continue to the crate and grab the rocket launcher in the brush next to it (replace with unused secondary weapon.)
Turn 90 degrees to your left, sprint and jump off the ledge. Turn a bit to the right in the air and you’ll see a group of crawlers spawning. Fire a rocket into the center of this group to kill them all before they disperse. If any survive, finish them off with your rifle.
Turn about 120 degrees to your left to see one extra crawler trying to flank you. Headshot him and then turn 120 degrees back to your right. You should see a Knight jumping down off a ledge. Jump and kill him with the second rocket as he lands. Killing this guy might not be necessary, but I find he tends to interrupt the next rocket shot if you don’t. There will also be a watcher firing at you overhead, but you should ignore it.
Reload the rockets and step forward a bit to see another group of crawlers spawn. Jump and fire a rocket into this group to kill as many as possible. I find that if you slightly delay this shot as they spawn, the Alpha closest to you will run towards another group of two. You should be able to kill 3-4 out of this group of 5. If you don’t see any crawlers, take a glance at your radar. If all the crawlers are dead, you’ll only see 3 enemies (2 watchers and 1 battlewagon with a binary rifle. Ignore them.) Otherwise finish off any remaining crawlers with the rifle/melee.
Turn to the right and go under the rock arch towards the covie shield. A group of 6 crawlers will spawn. 5 will be in a circle to the left of the shield and 1 in front of the shield. Fire the last rocket into the circle as they spawn. The back of this circle will contain 3 crawler snipers. Finish off the survivors and restart.
It takes some practice, but if done correctly the entire process of watching the cutsceen, playing, and restarting takes about 50 seconds. It’s important to note that YOU MUST KILL ALL CRAWLERS UP UNTIL THE SNIPER GROUP or they won’t all spawn. If you miss any prior crawlers, the sniper group will only spawn some of them, and there will usually be snipers missing.
So, not only is it a good deal faster on average than restarting Ep1-3 over and over (and more involved gameplay-wise, i.e. less boring), but it will also net you a lot of regular crawlers too. No need to farm them on other missions. Once you get this down, you should average over 200 crawler snipers per hour.
Good luck to anyone that understands this with no vid. Too bad Theater doesn’t support Spartan Ops, right? I can try to clarify any confusing parts for people that want to try.
Coincidentally… if you continue this method, it’s also the fastest way to farm Knight Commanders. In fact, farming the Commanders is what let me find this crawler sniper method. Grab Binary and snipe 1st commander over the hill and down by the Harvester, sprint to him and hope a Watcher follows you to revive. Kill him with his own incinerator cannon and sprint past the Harvester to the 2nd Commander spawn. Kill him and then hope one of the other Knights launches a Watcher to revive the 2nd Commander. Kill and restart. I never timed how long this took (3-4 Commander kills per run), but it’s a heck of a lot faster than playing this entire mission for 7 Commanders max or playing Ep5-1 to get 4 Commanders at the very end. Also, take Regen AA if you do this for Commanders, just in case. If you die at any point, it’s better to just restart the mission since you’ll be respawning there anyway.
