SpOps crawler sniper grinding

Has anyone found an easy way to grind these?

I’m tired of replaying Ep1 Ch3 over and over and over again just to get about ten of them.

I know charts have been made, but I’d rather spawn kill a few then restart the map to get the max amount of kills per minute over playing an entire mission 280 times.

Can anybody assist?

A Crawler Sniper spawns opposite you in Ep 1 Ch 3. Spawn with the DMR, headshot it then restart. This is the quickest way to grind the commendation. [You get about 100 in 45 mins](https://app.halowaypoint.com/en-us/#Halo4/A Blues fan/spartanops/match-f87a71a0f1a3ae14).

I’ll try that. thanks.

Now if there was a way to skip the cut scene.

I’d probably speed run twice as many kills.

“A Blues Fan” is right, we both have made charts and guides but we still have yet to find a good way to get those little buggers. I finally reached the last tier of them yesterday and only need 900 more to go. Just keep restarting that one mission and good luck.

Good luck to you too. 900 is still a lot of cut scenes to go through.

I stopped caring about commendations since I realized that getting the Mongoose destroyer is basically impossible

You can boost it with friends in regicide on complex.
Just shoot it a few times and they drive off a cliff.
I’ve seen a lot of people mention this and it works for them.

I’ve played a lot of regicide and Complex rarely comes up… But that’s a very good idea! Never heard this one. Won’t 343 catch you for boosting though and give you a ban?

Boosting for a commendation?

I’ll pass, Seeing as even that will take awhile

Well sorry for saying “boosting.” I meant “farming,”
Boosting is considered a bannable offense if you use guests that aren’t really there
Farming is active gamertags that are playing fairly to play to their liking.

Is farming with an active guest bannable?

It might but I would stay away when farming with friends as guests, sometimes the system decides to ban you and then you have to plead a case to 343 on the forums to get it removed or just wait whatever small time ban they put on you.

4 mongoose every couple of minutes in one match,
That’ll sky rocket your commendation to the top.
That’s up to 12-16 mongoose kills a game (depending on the spawn time)

Are you sure the Mongoose spawns on Complex in Regicide? I swear I checked once and couldn’t find any

I was always hoping that a Grunt or Elite would randomly be driving around in a Mongoose on a SpOps mission. The one mission where the Grunts are playing around with a Warthog got me SO excited but then they just sat around it instead ksjlcajklca

If you have 6-8 friends then go in to team slayer and do it, you then get more time to get more vehicle kills.

I must have spent an entire hour grinding yesterday.

I’m only at like 518/600, and I still have that final level (900) to go.

Jesus Christ, 343.

I play on Heroic and have noticed that the missions ‘Spartan Miller’ and ‘Switchback’ will give you at least 3-5 crawler snipers if you don’t stop the slipspace ruptures on the former and run away when the crawlers spawn on the latter. A little more entertaining to replay these missions instead of restarting ‘The Challenge’ , and both will help with your Knight Commander commendation as well. ‘Search for Halsey’ is a good one as well. 900 is still a long ways away though!

There’s a faster method using Ep6 Ch5 that I’ve discovered, though it’s a bit complicated to explain without a video, so bare with me (no capture card.)

First, use Mobility and Dexterity with your headshot weapon of choice (I use BR), and play on Easy.

At the start, sidestep or leap over the covie gunrack and sprint straight forward. As you clear the rock face on the right, turn slightly to the right, and you’ll see an ammo crate in front of you. Continue to the crate and grab the rocket launcher in the brush next to it (replace with unused secondary weapon.)

Turn 90 degrees to your left, sprint and jump off the ledge. Turn a bit to the right in the air and you’ll see a group of crawlers spawning. Fire a rocket into the center of this group to kill them all before they disperse. If any survive, finish them off with your rifle.

Turn about 120 degrees to your left to see one extra crawler trying to flank you. Headshot him and then turn 120 degrees back to your right. You should see a Knight jumping down off a ledge. Jump and kill him with the second rocket as he lands. Killing this guy might not be necessary, but I find he tends to interrupt the next rocket shot if you don’t. There will also be a watcher firing at you overhead, but you should ignore it.

Reload the rockets and step forward a bit to see another group of crawlers spawn. Jump and fire a rocket into this group to kill as many as possible. I find that if you slightly delay this shot as they spawn, the Alpha closest to you will run towards another group of two. You should be able to kill 3-4 out of this group of 5. If you don’t see any crawlers, take a glance at your radar. If all the crawlers are dead, you’ll only see 3 enemies (2 watchers and 1 battlewagon with a binary rifle. Ignore them.) Otherwise finish off any remaining crawlers with the rifle/melee.

Turn to the right and go under the rock arch towards the covie shield. A group of 6 crawlers will spawn. 5 will be in a circle to the left of the shield and 1 in front of the shield. Fire the last rocket into the circle as they spawn. The back of this circle will contain 3 crawler snipers. Finish off the survivors and restart.

It takes some practice, but if done correctly the entire process of watching the cutsceen, playing, and restarting takes about 50 seconds. It’s important to note that YOU MUST KILL ALL CRAWLERS UP UNTIL THE SNIPER GROUP or they won’t all spawn. If you miss any prior crawlers, the sniper group will only spawn some of them, and there will usually be snipers missing.

So, not only is it a good deal faster on average than restarting Ep1-3 over and over (and more involved gameplay-wise, i.e. less boring), but it will also net you a lot of regular crawlers too. No need to farm them on other missions. Once you get this down, you should average over 200 crawler snipers per hour.

Good luck to anyone that understands this with no vid. Too bad Theater doesn’t support Spartan Ops, right? I can try to clarify any confusing parts for people that want to try.

Coincidentally… if you continue this method, it’s also the fastest way to farm Knight Commanders. In fact, farming the Commanders is what let me find this crawler sniper method. Grab Binary and snipe 1st commander over the hill and down by the Harvester, sprint to him and hope a Watcher follows you to revive. Kill him with his own incinerator cannon and sprint past the Harvester to the 2nd Commander spawn. Kill him and then hope one of the other Knights launches a Watcher to revive the 2nd Commander. Kill and restart. I never timed how long this took (3-4 Commander kills per run), but it’s a heck of a lot faster than playing this entire mission for 7 Commanders max or playing Ep5-1 to get 4 Commanders at the very end. Also, take Regen AA if you do this for Commanders, just in case. If you die at any point, it’s better to just restart the mission since you’ll be respawning there anyway.

>

Thanks, I will have to give that a try sometime as it will be useful to get the regular crawlers as well.

>

Dude that is the greatest method ever!
I get 50 sniper kills every ten minutes on average.

Someone should do this with a capture card active and let the word out to the completionist community
