So firstly it was mentioned in an interview with Microsoft’s Head of XBOX division Phil Spencer that Halo Wars 2 is going to be the poster child of Windows 10 as he plans to dissolve the distinction between XBOX ONE and PC games. This would make sense to have a Halo title become the next face of PC gaming and thus Halo Wars 2 wont just be a game on the side like ODST and Halo Wars during Halo 3s reign. It was also mentioned that Halo 6 would be the end of MC’s story which also makes sense since his voice actor is saying goodbye to 343. As such I really do think the storyline of Halo Wars 2 is going to continue the Halo franchise and will eventually take over the main story. With saying goodbye with MC is to also say goodbye to Blue team.

Red Team and Blue team
Red team is known has blue team’s rivals and that during spartan training red team would often beat blue team, but they were also very close. One of the members of Blue team originally was in Red team AFAIK. In halo wars they just had helmets on and weren’t the main characters. Looking at the Halo wars 2 trailer its seems like Red team is going to be the main characters. I think this is for good reason. Now Halsey also chose the squad leaders of red team, like MC the ones to save humanity. I think Jerome is the rightful spartan to take over MC and to take over the last legacy of Spartan 2’s. Not Locke, Not Palmer not Thorne. Also if SoF woke up sometime around current Halo era, red team would be 29, which obviously are better replacements of blue team who are in their 50’s. Despite the trailer showing that they could be killed in HW2 I highly doubt that they would be.
Professor Ander’s and Halsey
Ander’s could be interpreted as Halsey’s rival as they didnt get along but despite being Halsey student, Halsey recognized Ander’s competence as a Civilian Consultant like Halsey and she was one of the first such officers aid the UNSC in the first contact with the covenant. She also has a high IQ of 180, very intelligent. If revived in Halo 6 it would be interesting seeing her relationship with Halsey as they had a big fallout of some point and they hated each other. I do think Halsey does have a high regard of Ander’s and Ander’s would probably be her 1st choice as to take her place as UNSC’s lead scientific mind. Anders is specialized in biology, anthropology and an expert in Xeno-biopsychology. She is noted to be special and that the forerunner artifacts were sensitive to her, thus her geas must be quite significant in the story. Anders seems to have engineering and computer expertise as she had to help configure the plasma based rhinos provided by the Pillar of Autumn. Being Halsey’s student and one of the UNSC’s greatest minds she may have fixed Serina’s rampancy if Serina doesnt acheive meta-stability.
Captain Cutter and Lord Hood and Captain Keyes
Lord hood was actually a subordinate of Captain cutter and actually served under him in the Spirit of Fire but was ordered to stay in Arcadia when SoF left. Lord Hood financially supported Cutter’s family after his MIA and the insurrectionist Daniel Clayton is actually Cutter’s illegitimate son. Captain cutter was also just below Vice Admiral Preston Cole as he served in his fleet. Captain cutter and Keyes were also pioneering captains as the former was the 1st to find a shield world and the latter was the 1st human captain to find a ring. Also both Keyes and Cutter are highly respectable captains as Marathon and Autumn class ships are typically given to at least rear admirals. Cutter was at some point offered the marathon class UNSC Glasgow.
Shield World Vs Ring/Spirit of Fire & Pillar of Autumn
SoF like Pillar of Autumn, both ships were pioneers. The SoF discovered the shield world and the PoA also discovered the Halo rings. Also in both series (HW and Halo) both ships had to detonate their slipspace drives on their respective discovered settings which also required remote detonation. Also both ships were also engaged in the Battle of Arcadia in which the PoA had prototypes of plasma based rhinos provided for the SoA. Both ships are also refitted versions of outdated classes.
Serina and Cortana-Both being very capable AI’s and highly exposed to forerunner technology. Both are also quite sassy but also very personal AI’s Serina has an affinity and fascination to human relationships as she sent fake valentine letters to those who served on the SoF from their respective families/lovers. Both are also within a rampancy age and its fascinating what rampancy has done to each AI. Alongside Roland she is one of the most significantly portrayed AI personality in Halo. Seeing how everyone else has a relationship with Halo 5 era characters, Serina could have a relationship with Cortana in the nearby future and could even be key to stopping her. Both are also colored blue.
Looking at the legendary ending of HW, Serina seems to be well enough to wake up Cutter and the crew. Rampancy should have killed her to be that functional unless HW2 takes place soon after HW but seeing that nobody is in SoF that would suggest that the crew were killed off somewhere never to be found since i doubt cryosystems were with them to preserve themselves. Seeing how HW2 is going to be huge I doubt they would kill them off and that they left soon before SoF was found to be empty using the Bases, supply dropships, dropships or rather by any means to a planet in proximity. If they are going to be kept alive within the current Halo timeline it would make sense that they would re-unite with the UNSC. THIS IS HUGE. I predict they might have fled on the planet near the ring that Cortana annexed. As such Serina must have by some means survived rampancy, either by the expertise of Anders, or by herself achieving meta stability or may have even been saved on a similar case to cortana. As such perhaps SoF may have annexed a forerunner ship or an ancient human ship that could produce the UNSC schematics of vehicles etc.
With the first introduction of Ancient Human technology within the UNSC (Hellcat MJOLNIR permutation in H5) I think they might also revive Ancient Humans within the series if not have major discoveries it was noted in the Hellcat notes that spartan 2’s had perfect synchronization with the Hellcat armor which suggests that Red team may be the best candidates for implementation of ancient human technology within UNSC systems.
Also HW2 is going to be co-produced by creative assembly. CA made huge RTS games and since starcraft 2 saga has ended I think HW2 is going to take over SC2’s reins in forwarding the PC RTS. Since HW2 is co-produced by CA we could also get massive battles or even a campaign map or even naval battles. A single SoF wouldnt be able to do this against whatever its facing so its possible HW2 could be within current Halo time or found its own AH/Forerunner ships (very unlikely)
Halo Wars 2 seems like its going to big not because its going to be the next XBOX/W10 poster child, but also because I think its likely that HW2 will be within the main series. With that being so, looking at the parallelism of the characters I think HW2 plot and implementation into the main series is because we are quite familiar with the characters and theyve grown close to our hearts despite new failed attempts with new characters such as Locke, Palmer and Thorne.
