Earlier today, while at work, I started thinking about the campaign, since I just played through it a 3rd time. I started really thinking about how John can hear the Didact but Cortana can’t. This takes place a few times after John’s “mutation”.
Having read the forerunner saga books a couple times, I’m now wondering if the Bornstellar-Didact was composed long ago and then imprinted into John during his mutations, much like the “old spirits” that the humans had, or similar to Bornstellar hearing the Didact inside his head at times after his brevet mutation, because of the imprint it left. The second book leads you to believe the Didact side of Bornstellar has completely taken over, so, if composed, this doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.
Just wondering anyone else’s thoughts on how John can hear the Didact. I suppose it’s possible that he could communicate telepathically, but I don’t think it’s really forerunner style to do that.
