I enjoyed Infinites campaign but the transition from Guardians was odd if you ask me.
Blue team: Chief had his old team back together in the previous game and they’ve all of a sudden just gone. Like I can’t even find a hidden message references or anything about their where abouts.
Fire team Osirus: This one is slightly more understandable but again just… gone. The book bad blood does explain why Buck left. Then again we could easily say the same for Alpha nine odst squad and Jun. It makes sense that they finished their mission and was simply re assigned. But I am still curious about what happend to them.
Arbiter and TSOS: Cortana threatened everybody and I imagine the Arbiter would of been the type to help the Chief out with his turned partner. And during his time with the chief in Halo 3 hearing Johnson saying “don’t let her go” shows that he new how important cortana was to the chief.
Promethean: So they’re just gone? The whole times they’ve been in the games they’ve served some one ( Didactic Jul 'Mama and cortana) we don’t know what happens to the promeathans when the leader dies with no orders. I imagine they would still be carrying out their last ones and if not that then atleast go rogue or rampant. Unless cortana deactivated them as she sacrificed her self. Which would be understandable but it would of still been nice to have them around in the background like the flood are.
Promethean weapons: because of the materials and science it takes to make them I doubt anyone who isn’t fourunner or one of their AI’s can manufacture them. So unless they all got destroyed I’m surprised we haven’t seen any of them around.
Infinity crew (palmer Laskey Roland): Palmers always been that character that wants to be at the front seat.
The fact that I can’t hear her was genuinely concerning. I have found audio logs with laskey involved. But as the captain of his ship why isn’t he the establishing a resistance against the banished? Roland is hard to say if infinity did blow up he may have been told to self terminate or he was given to someone who managed to escape or got captured.
Infinity: was it destroyed or did it crash?
Craig: not relevant but I swear I saw he on Reach before he was famous.
Warden Eternal: I imagine the Mega Promethan who was more obsessed with protecting cortan than the chief was would have wanted to be by her side during her final moments or even nagotiating with Atriox. Also with his millions of bodys that seem to be scattered on diffrent worlds he doesn’t seem like the type who would just… go away.
As good as infinites campaign is does any one else think about this when they played the game? Sometimes it bugged me and I somewhat half expected answers during the gameplay.
The story feels very disjointed – both within itself and with the rest of the series. Granted, I’m only at Mission 8, but I’ve collected most of the audio logs up to this point, and I’m still not really sure what’s happening. Comparing that to any of the other Halo games, by halfway through the Campaign, you’re fully aware of the story.
Fairly certain this campaign was sort of a start of a trilogy and less of a continuation. There is a 10 year plan, after all. I’m sure there will be room for expansions covering most of these points, along with the return of the flood (pretty sure they have to if you’ve seen the 343 sound design videos.) With some things though it did seem like they tried to bury anything related to Halo 5 in order to appease fans. It was a bit weird that there was a gap between the end of Halo 5 and the start of Halo infinite, but audio logs make up for some of it.
They destroyed the Lore, i think they should fire the guy who thought this was a good way of telling a story, no past information for new players, no mention to what happened after Halo 5, destroying humantitys biggest weapon UNSC infinity in 4 minutes with a cutscene and not showing us what happened between cortana and atriox, the holograms between cortana and atriox where awful. Generally disappointed because halo just became a shooting gallery and is catering mostly towards Fortnite kids.
The game obviously doesn’t though, based on the Weapon being designed to stop Cortana. The events of Guardians happened. Therefore, the writing in this game is poor for continuity, and a complete cop-out.
Audio logs show a conversation between Halsey and lasky about is it s good idea to split chief and blue team up.
They send chief to the ring and blue team gets reassigned by Lasky.
The forerunner weapons ARE the new Promethean weapons in this game just with a new art style.
But for the most part yeah, the story struggles as its clearly had a rewrite at somepoint and also had to conclude one story while also starting a new one at the same time.
I think the next portion now that the created storyline has ended will be more coherent seeing as they only have to write the one story now.
Yeah it’s probably the best they could do and the audio logs do answer some of these questions:
Laskey is on the ring and MIA. Palmer is probably with him.
Locke and Blue Team went on different missions. Sounds like book stuff.
The Warden I suspect that he would be the main target for Locke: it sounds like the UNSC launched a simultaneous strike.
They never clarified if the Created had control over the Domain and Prometheans/Guardians. It could be that without Cortana they simply melt away or flee. They wouldn’t have had time to build a robot army of their own. Atriox says her Empire is gone, but does he just mean the alien worlds she held where the Created weren’t? I suspect the multiplayer component may answer some of the Universe questions about Earth etc
The Arbiter probably freed Sanghelios and is going to come after all those traitors, cowards and scum fighting for the Banished.
I am trying to get all the context. But I assume that when Cortana was locked down she was shut out of the Domain and so everything she controlled just turned off. If she had been able to issue a self destruct command she could have escaped and done something about Atriox.
A lot comes down to the ring being in the middle of nowhere. We don’t know too much on state of the galaxy.
BTW do they clarify the status of the Domain in the game?
It is disappointing but there was a lot of money behind this game and you can’t sell a story that’s so divisive. So they took the Banished who people like and made them the main villains.
I thought the story picked up from the end of Halo Wars 2? At least that was what I understood. Or at least it made it seem like the events in Halo infinite happened years after Halo 5. My argument for this is at the beginning they show a young Echo 216 pilot getting hit by “something” that strands him. Years later he finds Master Chief.
I haven’t finished the campaign yet, but just a few hours in, It doesn’t seem too disjointed, but it does feel like they tried to separate the story a bit from Halo 5. Like there was lot that happened in between Halo5 and Halo Infinite that we don’t know yet. It would be cool if they explain everything.
I get what you mean but I always thought halo wars was separate from the original series. In the same universe but just on a diffrent aspect of the war.
