I am not sure if this has been presented before but I wanted to know peoples take on it.
What if the ISO Didact became the new “voice inside Chiefs head”?
Based on Halo Primordium a dormant composed soul can coexist with a live host and can be passed down to countless generations before becoming semi-active (like Lord of Admirals).
Based on Silentium, the ISO Didact asks Guilty Spark whether or not he would fire the Halos if it were his choice. Guilty Spark answers this question…to Master Chief 100 thousand years later.
This leads me to believe that the ISO Didact is a dormant composed sould inside Master Chief. He will rise up in John’s conscious just like Lord of Admirals did in primordium and effectively become the next Cortana.
It would make for a great matchup since it would be Didact vs Didact in the distant future (for them at least).
I was thinking the same thing here…
Since we can all remember the Ur-Didact speaking directly into the Chief’s mind in Halo 4, perhaps the Librarian’s “blessing” on the Master Chief allowed both Didacts to communicate with their champion.
Essentially the IsoDidact would assist the Master Chief in Cortana’s absence. That would be a great way to fill that needed gap in gameplay and storytelling.
Interesting theory but high unlikly. If the iso-didact want to come out he would have done it in halo 4. Who knows maybe he went into a cruptum before the rings fired.
^ there is still the thing where Guilty Spark answers Chief a question he didn’t ask, only it was asked 100 thousand years ago by someone else.
I thought of this too, but do the things the Didact said in Jon’s mind line up with the IsoDidact and not the UrDidcat? We need some quotes over here…
Interesting theories. If 343 really wanted to they could tie them up and present a very cool plot with that. However, the way silentium ended kinda of felt like 343 left it open so that the Forerunners might make a comeback. Not saying this is the case, but the lack of closure in the final chapters of the book make it feel that way.
I also have to point out, the question Guilty Spark asked John in Halo CE was during a time where Bungie was planning on making Forerunners ancient humans, which would tie everything quite nicely. However by Halo 3 that seemed to have been scrapped for the universe we have now. Forerunners are no longer ancient humans, obviously, but this could still tie in someway or another, as Master Chief was technically engineered by the Librarian.

He was on the Ark at the time, so he survived.

It takes time for the Geas’ consciousness to fully form into its own. If, however, Bornstellar was coming back in the Chief’s head, the result would inevitably be John essentially becoming Bornstellar, as Bornstellar became the Didact. It’s a possibility, but not the only one. Medicant Bias could be the new voice for all we know.
It is also explicitly stated in the Rebirth video that Bornstellar and a small fleet of Forerunners survived and reseeded earth directly, and even threw a party with the humans to celebrate the birth of the new galaxy (I distinctly recall Riser teaching a Warrior how to drink; hilarity ensued). So yes, he survived, but where he and the other Forerunners are no one knows.
I really doubt they’ll go for this. It would be great for people who read the books, but for a lot of people it would be really confusing to introduce this plot element.
I imagine that Halo 5 will be about the Didact having somehow survived, or at least an imprint of him, and he’s the main enemy. I’d expect Chief has a new AI now for the new “voice in his head”, which would be a more interesting and understandable story element, IMO.
Well, there’s SOMETHING that’s pushing chief to go places that big forerunner robots are protecting, and I can only hope it’s more interesting than “getting cortana back”.
As roberto jh said… I don’t think I would be comfortable with the Didact being a biological factor… He would make a cool A.I tho.
Despite holding Cortana’s chip in his hand, I don’t think the Chief is there to find her…again cough Halo 3 cough
