[spoilers] Didact [spoilers]

*Because it’d be a really bad move to kill him off at the start of the trilogy
*Because of his voice over at the end of H4- Also in the terminals he says that the composer wouldn’t work on his new form. So falling into the composer doesn’t really do much…

Anyone agree with me on this? And what about your opinions on Cortana, is she really dead or not?

SPOILERS

At the very beginning of the game, Cortana mentions that Halsey could rebuild her neuro-net pathways, as long as they get back to Halsey on Earth. I don’t think that was a one off piece of dialogue, I think due to Halsey’s absence in this game, she will play a prominent role later on and can bring Cortana back. Plus, Cortana has been stored in some kind of system on the Composer, whereby she divided her rampant personalities to overwhelm the Diadact’s shields. I think now that the rampant personalities have split, Halsey may be able to retrieve the parts of Cortana that we want and rebuild her neuro-net from there.

I’m doubtful they would end Cortana like that. She will return. The Didact lives, if you have subtitles on, it even says his name during the epilogue, he sounds like he’s giving a speech to the Forerunners to start a war, I think that’s the premise of Halo 5. This trilogy needs a war now, because Chief is back on Earth, that’s the only way he’s going back into service.

Well it’s obvious that he isn’t dead, not by a long shot. The game’s epilogue conform that he is alive and that he still has plans to eradicate humanity.

I agree he is alive. He will later on become a more dangerous character. Some form of Promethean General perhaps. But I believe he will come back in a deformed state. (Injured in some way.) And be 1000X worse.

Agree withe the fact he’ll be 1000x worse, but remember that he already is the leader of the Prometheans knights and the warrior-servants!

that wasnt the composer he fell into that was a slipspace rupture i guess he was using it to power the composer

I agree with what xxxEO SL4Y3Rxxx said. Cortana will survive due to a ‘data recovery’ and the Didact will return. However, I would like to say that the Didact’s monologue at the end could be an excerpt of something he said to his fellow forerunner’s before they activated the Halo’s and he tried to act on his Promethean plan.

Well that’s even worse. Instead of just surviving the nuke and waiting in the broken pieces of his ship, he might have redirected the slipspace rupture at the last moment to reach a distant part of space where he could rebuild an army.

Also, did anyone else notice that the voice of the Didact sounds a lot like the Prophet of Truth from H2? Is that the same voice?

Oh and there are 2 Diadacts, so we’re screwed.

Why don’t you change the title to not talk about spoilers.

There have been two Didacts.

The game ends with the phrase: “The reclamation has already begun.” So what the -Yoink-?!

Dude spoiler tags and your title is a spoiler. Come on man people haven’t all beaten the game yet.

Do you guys even logic?

Hearing didact’s voice in end=didact is alive?
lol?

If you listen closely, maybe you would’ve discerned that the speech was most likekly made during the start of the forerunner-human war, not during the ending.

Though, I’m pretty sure the dudes alive.

I’d bet anything that Didact isn’t dead. He spent most of the final encounter floating within a part of the Composer that was as flush with energy as the beam that depopulated New Phoenix. I highly doubt he would allow his body to remain susceptible to its effects; even if his wife developed her own biological means to prevent indexing, the Didact designed the weapon itself and probably had his own hard counter for the thing.

I also don’t give two -Yoink- about Cortana returning. Her story’s been told. We need some focus elsewhere. If it weren’t for the franchise’s unwavering attachment to the Chief, I’d suggest swapping protagonists a la Reach or at least bringing the Arbiter back to give us some alternate perspectives. I’m honestly tired of Chief.

How do you know the didact is dead? He could have survived the fall and maybe his armor can survive a nuclear explosion.

Now while I don’t think the Didact is dead, as he isn’t affected by the composer, it seemed to me that the whole epilogue speech was more a flashback of an address he gave to the Ecumene Council. They wouldn’t spend this much time building up the return of him only to off him in the first game. As for the possibility of the second Didact showing, i find that unlikely. The Didact we saw in 4 is never specified as to whether he is the Ur-Didact or Bornstellar. What we do know, however, that whichever one we did see, the other was the one who fired the Halo Array. Unless there was some sort of safeguard for him, the second Didact is likely to be wiped out.

Cortana, on the other hand, i’m not so sure about. They gave quite a lot of closure for a character that though she will be missed, I think her story is told. On the other hand, Chief needs her, and
halo 5 could be an epic journey for him to find a way to bring her back. It could go both ways, but only time will tell.

The Didact’s armor is a level 18 which is as high as it goes. If chief’s armor can survive that fall in halo 3 no doubt the didact can survive that. Also that is the Ur-Didact. Bornstellar was executed by Master Builder Faber. Ur-Didact is the second part to the didact.

You should not post in really old threads like this.
